Is 800 mph a good time for a bridle tangle?!
Sure you heard about Redbulls jump today- 24 miles above Earth at 800 mph. They always have the most extreme stunts.
Seriously, how does a chute not rip on deployment?

I just read about Project Excelsior a few weeks ago.
Interesting that Joseph Kittinger was mentoring him and was his capsule communicator during the jump. Kittingers jumps in 1959 and 1960 for Project
Excelsior would have required massive cajones. Particularly as the technique was untested and the first attempt resulted in him going into a spin and
losing consciousness.
Baumgartner broke several records, but pulled the chute too early and failed to break Kittingers freefall record.

On 12 October 2010, Red Bull announced it was placing the project on hold after Daniel Hogan filed a lawsuit in California Superior Court in Los
Angeles, California, USA in April, claiming he originated the idea of the parachute dive from the edge of space in 2004 and that Red Bull stole the
idea from him. |
Ha! It was done in 1960 already!

It's true that baumgartner appears to have pulled the chute too early for the record due to some technical issues with fogging in his helmet, there
was a significant chance he couldn't break the record, because he was falling so much faster than Kittinger through essentially the same amount of
air..He only missed by a few seconds.
All in all it was really a grand event to watch and be a part of.
