Love this site! But...

http://www.powerkiteshop.com/index.htm

Okay so I love the site and everything that they have on there. But I am in the US like most of us except for pop eye. Is there anyone that comes close here that has a site as comprehensive? They seem to cover everything in regards to kiting very well.

Thanks BC

www.kiteboarding.com is fairly comprehensive.... however, 99% of the time, it won't matter.

A fair number of retailers are active on PKF to varying degrees, including:

Andrew at www.powerlinesports.com
Angus at www.coastalwindsports.com
Edit: Rian/Rich at www.eastcoastkitesports.com
Corey at www.windpowersports.com
Dino at www.dakitez.com
Don at www.kiteplace.com
Jeff at www.pkdkitesusa.com
John at www.powerzonekitesports.com
Kent at www.awindofchange.com
Mike at www.bigmikeskites.com
Paul at www.pbkiteboarding.com

Unless you are placing bulk orders and hoping to save on shipping by consolidating orders, you should be fine making separate orders with different retailers based on which manufacturers are part of their line card (list of products and manufacturers they stock).

The reason that powerkiteshop.coms inventory seems so extensive is that powerkiting is more popular in the UK, there are a handful of retailers there and the distribution channel doesn't have to reach across the Atlantic.

For a while, I was ordering GI products from Coastal Wind Sports (Brunswick, GA) and they were being shipping to be directly from GI (Greenville, SC) and I was getting orders in 2-3 days.

While there's some allure to one-stop shopping, there's also something to be said for working with multiple vendors and in some cases getting faster turn around because they are closer to you. Sometimes is nice dealing with multiple retailers with smaller line cards because (especially if they have a long standing relation ship with a particular manufacturer), they have a more in-depth knowledge of the products. I have spent hours on the phone bending the ears of some of the PKF dealers before making a purchase or in some cases rethinking things based on the conversation.

ATB,
Sam

I agree with Sam...If you purchase things locally then you are helping out your fellow PKF members, their businesses, and families. These are also the people that you call upon, ask questions and help bail your butt out of a jam when you are at an event.
( ex. something breaks, you want to try a kite, something welded on your buggy, flat tire, etc)

You can't get that kind of service from a web site! :eureka: It's also nice starting a relationship (buyer/seller) as they remember the next time you purchase something and help you out $$.

A few bucks here and there is nothing...in the long run, if you purchase items locally, they will be around to help you in the future.

Thanks Sam for the mention, (pardon my correction, but it is Rian /Rich at ECKS) No harm, no foul.

BC, I would be glad to help you out in any way that I can, whether it be chatting about products I am familiar with ( we deal with HQ, PL, Prism, Trampa), helping you find someone that has what you are looking for or selling you something myself. I can be reached by phone (number is in my sig) most days 7am til 9pm EST. Or by email at rich@eastcoastkitesports.com

Warning, if you call about kiting, your next phone bill may be a little high!
