New Buggy hitch for the Jeep!
At the fall SOBB, I did a little 4X4ing out of the beach area but went down a little too steep of a hill and the back wheels of my buggy (while on the
back of the Jeep) clipped the sand hill and broke my oar racks that I use to keep the buggy secure on the back.
I picked up some swivel clamps and mounted them onto my buggy hitch.
I am quite pleased as to how it turned out.
The old oar rack
The new swivel clamps.
Cheers

Make sure not to do the same with the new set up. Looks like next time, instead of busting your rack, you will tear the wheels off your buggy.
There is something to be said for designing in a weak link.

Is it possible to design for strength, if the designer doesn't really understand what strength is?

I beleive they are originally intended for scafolding or lighting industry.
Here's the link to where I found them.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/GLOBAL-TRUSS-PRO-SWIVEL-CLAMP-ALUMIN...
They wanted $50 a piece here in Canada (and were out of stock) so I got them from ebay for about $27 each
$83 and 3 days later they arrived

They are as Ken said, Scaffolding clamps. They will work real nice, and look good to.
One thing you might think of is a safety cable with a lock pin for the top of the threads above the wing nuts, or a small keyed lock. Would hate to
see the thing get a bit loose by jiggling down the road or some punk with nothing to do but see how long it stays put after you leave the store.
Cought a couple of kids messing with my bugs behind the RV, they didnt know I was watching them on the rear view camera from inside. Glad I had a
couple of thin cables with a lock holding the Bling wheels and tires on the Apexx to the rack.
Going to have to get in better shape if I want to run as fast as a kid again.
Nice color match by the way, looks good. You wouldn't be planning a trip
would you?

That really is freekin sweet... I think like Jeff said, something to keep your wing nuts in place seemed wise,... Like a small hole drilled in the
bolt with a cotter pin,... Of course you would need to powder coat the cotter pin Orange too
I'm going to take a nap now

I've got a clamp like that I use for tandems. Came with a aluminium tube with a hole through it. You replace the front wheel of the towee bug with
the aluminum tube by putting the bolt through the hole. You clamp one side to the towing bug's back axle, and the other around the aluminum tube.
Works great.

Ken,
the clamps are aluminum, will you use a strap to tie the bug to the jeep? on your before pics you strapped around the axle and the hitch and also up
to the tow hooks, still going to do that? I am thinking the aluminum is kind of week(found out these are also used in lighting setups for stages) for
off road use? I have a camera on the back of the RV and watch the setup swing and move more than I feel comfy with, I don't have any where to tie the
setup back to the fiberglass rear end of the RV so you think your new clamps are stronger than the oar locks you had before?
