Try the Challenge Mishkumi first. It's a VAKE qualifier up at Lac St. Jean a lot closer and cheaper.

I think they've run the VAKE for 5 years or so and last year was the first time anyone had ever finished it as far as I know.

Long time in regular alpine boots. Not so bad in the AT boots but still a long time. You do take 'em off when you camp I imagine. At least the shell.

I love the point where the visabilty goes bad. When we run into that stuff it feels almost like freefall. Bad light, super flat, can't tell where the horizon ends and the sky begins. Leave the ground and you can't tell how high you are or how hard you'll land.

My main snowkite location is a high Plateau area surrounded by cliffs and steep sided valleys so if the weather goes like that I usually pack up and hike out!

I can't snowkite in it anyway. the disorientation seems to mess me up. I'm a little better on skis or a board only but I still have to slow right down.
