First snowkite session in the bag!

It looked like it wasn't gonna happen. 45 gusting to 65km this afternoon, I wished I had a smaller kite like 4m. Around 4:30 I was 35 gusting to 48km. I packed the 6m and 9m, board, and rest of gear. Drove to field my meter was dead so played safe and used 6m. It started good and powered but ten-fifteen minutes in it dropped and I wished I had the 9m. It was gonna be dark by the time I got kites switched, so I stayed on the 6m. Made the most of it only able to stay in one line. Fell once and when I let go of the bar it slapped me in the lips. Many times the lack of power I was falling on my butt. Got some gopro video to look at. Anyway it felt good to finally get out there even though it wasn't the best session. There's lots of snow and even more winter to be had. Can't wait to go again next weekend.

It was a surprise to me after the past few years. Still had stuff to do before the white stuff fell, but I'm happy it's here.

Glad to hear that you were able to get sliding again shaggs. It is the first time I can recall having this much snow lasting this long in October. Looks like it will warm up during the day down here this week and it will be gone by next weekend. It was breezy but snowing yesterday for a bonus session, but calm and sunny today.

It was killing me all summer while everyone was able to ride. Watched my video, I really wished I had pulled the Frenzy out, lots of sitting in the snow. Looked at the forecast, I could have had the 12m out by the end of it. Better to be underpowered after almost 7 months without kiting.

Yeah I made a few failed attempts at the lake this summer where winds either weren't enough or they dropped as I was setting up. Got 20ish minute session including setup and pack down trying a new field that was too small. Other than that it was March 11 the last decent session I had. Might have to buy another buggy if next summer is the same. Definitely a Bigfoot or similar this time should it happen.

We get the same deal here. In winter I get out 4-5 times a week, 7 times a week if my body will tolerate it and the wind is up. But only for 5-6 months then the winds dies in the summer and to ride water I have to drive 2 hrs to the coast. I haven't learned to ride water yet and I can ride my bikes right out the front door so from the end of May till about now I don't get on the kite much.

I tried riding my ATB a few times, had some luck but I was consistent with getting out and the winds weren't great when I was out. Rode one down in St. Augustine on a hardpacked sand beach and learned more in 20 minutes riding that than I learned the whole last year riding here on the grass. Powerslides are wicked, wicked fun.

No place to buggy here. Just as well I don't think I have room for a buggy.
