Flexifoil Rage 3.5

HI I am a newbie to power kites and have been flying 2 line 1.3m and 2.7m toy kites and would like to after a while have a go with a buggy. I have been looking at buying the Flexifoil Rage 3.5. I presume I must take in to account my body weight I’m 100KG

It's described as not having too much lift and will fly at low wind speeds. Has anyone any hands on experience of this kite?

Any comments appreciated.

Skip,

I am about 120kg and have the Rage 3.5 and a Beamer 2.5. My first buggy experience was with the 2.5 in low winds and it was perfect for my first time. I could have gone with the 3.5 but I am very patient when it comes to this sports learning curve. I have learned from these guys here to be patient and learn the kite first. i had my buggy for almost a month before using it. And that was at El Mirage in California. I knew it would be better to wait and stay in one piece and not get discouraged by error after error.

Hope this is somewhat helpful,

Chad

Chad's right- a 3.5 is a good size to start for someone such as yourself.

Right now I have 2.5, 4.5 and 5.5m ProFoils, and I miss having something in the 3.5 range. I'm about 90 kg.

Last time out the winds were about 14-16 mph and I set up with my 4.5, but blew a line right away. so I switched to my 2.5 and it was fine but a bit under-powered; I really had to work it to move the buggy well. I think the 4.5 would have been a lot of grunt for me, a relateve newbie, but the 3.5 would have been juuuuust right.

I'll be adding a 3.5 or so something to my quiver soon.- probably a Crossfire 3.2

Hi Andy
Dont worry it happens to the best of us....like you I also have had my butt handed to me by the wind gods......
I have a 3.5 Beamer and it spanked me and then some.....

(NO COMMENTS FROM THE PEANUT GALLERY.....LOL)

but I then bought my 2.5 Radsail and it rocked.....
So after I was comfortable with that kite I then got back out my Beamer and it had a much better result........(WELL I GUESS ANYTIME YOU DONT EAT DIRT IS A GOOD THING RIGHT)

So to the point of my post......:spin:
Dont give up.....and if the 3.5 is a little to much to handle then try something along the lines of the 2.5M range
and next time you pull out your 3.5 maybe a little less stronger winds untill you can get the feel for your kite better
Hopefully this helps and makes you feel a little better:singing::singing:
