Hello.. When the kite spins and the strings tangle, does the kite sort it'self out again or do you have to spin the other way.

If your talking about while your flying the kite and your looping the kite in one direction.... you will have to loop the opposite direction the same amount of times to untangle the lines, it wont untangle itself, sure would be nice,

But i don't see how.. Not that i've tried, but wouldn't it be difficult to control when the lines are twisted?

High quality linesets will allow multiple twists in the lines with very little if any drag at all. Normally 3-5 twists are no issue at all. When you start getting up to 8-10 twists you may start to get a lot of drag or your lines may start to "Lock" up and control can be difficult.

Even low quality lines should be able to sustain 3-6 twists before locking up on you. If you spin the kite in one direction, just spin it in the other to get it undone again.

Larger kites will have a lot more pull than smaller kites. The stronger the pull on the kite lines, the less amount of twists you can have before it starts locking up on you.

If you spin the same direction as the kite did, and the same number of times, everything will equal out.

Yeah, one important note, when deliberately spinning a "Powered Up" kite, the burst of power you can get can be hard to handle, if your good at brake turns, this is a fairly safe way to spin the kite, another good option is to put the kite straight overhead and then when it's stable, spin your body.

when spinning the kite powered up it usually will generate more pull so use those brakes. spining your body works great too, just make sure the kite is in the top of the wind window.

Hey, never underestimate a powerkite, I've been flying for years and just got spanked not too long ago by a Century 2.5m kite, Slid a good 50ft before I got it under control.

Only 50 ft., you must have had a bit of experience. I had stacked four 6ft. prism when I got spanked. Went the total length of a darn foot ball field and was stopped by the goal post. Scared the hell out of me then, now I love memory of it.

Surely you could've just used the breaks and the kite would have to go down..

Yeah, wasn't really planning on flying that day, the Mrs wanted to try a Century and the 6.5 is just way too much for her to hold down in winds good enough for it to fly, the 2.5m needs decent winds, I'd only flown it in fairly light winds, so when she wanted to try it we headed out, wind was pretty good, got the kite to the top of the window no problem, wearing flip flops, shorts, t-shirt, no safety gear, Totally underestimated the kite, Brake turn at the top of the window and dove it straight down, before I knew what happened I was off and sliding, made it a ways before I went down, then stupid, I know better macho male attitude comes in and I decide, I'll just fly it to the top of the window while sliding.

I decided you'll only lose all control over the kite if it spins enough to make pulling on the lines useless. But i could un spin it if i remembered what way it went, or if i felt like it was spinning too much i'd pull the breaks.

Problem is once you feel like it's spun too much, you've already lost control, or at least some control. Best to only spin it 3-4 times max in one direction, if you feel like spinning it more, spin it 4 times one way, then you can get 8 rotations the other way.

Yeh that's exactly what i did

1 thing ive learnt when spinning, is dont crash, it can take quite a while to get the lines straight again when there is nit much wind.

I find that with my big kite..and then it folds over and you have to wait for a big gust of wind for the kite to catch

As far as unspinning the lines if the kite hits the ground, best way is to put both handles together, side by side, then spin the pair of handles, this way they'll stay in line with the kite, if the kite doesn't pass through the lines, then the handles won't have to be spun seperately to get it undone, place both handles together, spin 3-4 times or whatever needed, then launch.
