Ultimate kite knife!

As an instructor , and kiter year round in cold water, cold snow, and just normal days out, I've found this to be one if the best, safest, reliable knife regardless of mittens, gloves ( thick or thin ) or bare handed. It is spring loaded, has a lock that operates with a flick of the thumb and opens with an unconscious push... I usually have it on me as around my neck but it can be hooked on a harness and tethered in or just in a pocket. The blade as the link shows is very very sharp but not really likely to cut anything accidentally.

It's awesome and the price point as well as made in USA stamp...could not be beat.

How easy does the hook open with mittens or gloves? Pushbutton looks pretty small...

Any particular reason why you prefer an auto as opposed a fixed blade hook knife.

Retrievial with gloves on can always be made easier with a lanyard....

Gloves really dictate where you wear your knife as well.

I keep on in my helmet with a grab ball. I can't easily get it out of the pocket on my Naish or mystic harness but keep a second one there.

Ive used the fixed blade as well , but the aspect of exposed blade is less than that of this knife, .
If you explore the web site they have a "tat cutter",

http://colonialknifecorp.com/TAT_Cutter/tat_cutter.html

Ive put it on a "zip", like what you would find at the ski area for lift ticket cards and had this around my next.....not too bad.

but hey, when I am kiting on my own I get used to my systems, and when I am teaching kite lessons it is mandatory that I carry a knife, so, the easier it is to use the better, yay!
