Dillon 2013

Was going to connect trip up to CO and catch a day of the Dillon SnowKite Series this weekend, but it looks like the January dates have been cancelled. Anybody know if Dillon has even turned and froze yet? Is the Sanitarium still not any good?

Dillon has frozen completely, but there are currently some thin spots, and not a large amount of snow coverage at the Silverthorne marina where the races are held. Pretty bummed about kite event cancelled.

Anton has been grooming the sanitarium kitepark area at the other end of the lake. Full snow coverage, little rocky right now, totally rideable

I will be riding kitepark/sanitarum on sunday 1/6/13 if anyone would like to meet. PM me for my #.

Tide? What's a tide? Man, it's 1000 miles to any ocean.

I kited out of Silverthorne Marina on Jan 24th and the lake surface was decent. About four others out and all of us trying to deal with the on and off conditions. After running out of quarters, I was becalmed about 1/4 mile out. Had an appointment to make and couldn't wait for the wind to return, so I rolled up my lines and shuffled in [tele skis come in handy for this] with the kite under an arm. I'm sure this sacrifice caused the wind to return after I drove off...
Anybody kite on Dillon for the Feb kite series?
