Chicken Loop?
Can someone tell me what style of a chickenloop I need for this bar? Its a Caution Santa Cruz, to be used on a Waroo or a VenomI. It has a small loop
sewn in for attaching the chickenloop.

IIRC I had a bar like that and the ckicken loop was a thick piece of flexible dacron or spectra that was bowline knotted or larksheaded to that
webbing / small loop and one end held the pin and the other end was a sewn loop to work as a top hat type release from the chickenn loop. The loop
itself was inserted in tubing to make it more chaff reistant.
Worked well but I can't quite remember if it was on my FS or Ozone kite (both of which I no longer own). Would be easy to make too.

So the chicken loop would stay in the harness bar and the rest would release when you release?

No, the the chicken loop would be larksheaded to the webbing on the bar such that the bitter end sticks out a bit and it has a sewn loop for the pin
safety. If you popped it, it would still be attached to the bar and the whole thing would cut away.
Go to page 10 and following of the FS Pulse manual here http://www.flysurfer.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/02/pulse2_m...
so you can see how the safety sysemt works on the rope chicken loop as it was a very similar setup to this old ozone access chiken loop
I post these so you can see how the safety pin / loop is just offest from where the chickenloop is actually attached and that the loop can be
larksheaded into the webbing.
Conversely you could just add a snap shackle on a carabiner and call it a day.

or you could see if you can get this old type of leash from FS and modify it into a chicken loop with relatively little effort

Wow! I would have never rigged it like that. I'm not sure where to start with parts to make that setup. Maybe just look for a different bar already
set up so I don't get killed. Thanks much!!!

Hey eggy,
I looked in m garage for another caution chicken loop but to no avail. I thought I had another one sitting around.
You are correct in that the way it is set up, if you were to detach from the kite, the chicken loop stays on the harness and th bar ends up as you
have shown in the picture. Did you lose the chicken loop?
My best advise if you don't have the loop part anymore, dont try to recrreat it and abandon that depower rope. Buy a new style chicken loop and put a
new depower rope on it and attach to the depower strap. This would be much better for the venom anyway because you can extend the depower rope
(throw).

Thanks for looking Flyfish. Its a bar that came with a 17m waroo I bought last fall and was without the chickenloop. I still have the bar for the
Venom 13 that should work. I just wanted to put together an extra bar with some shorter lines. Give me an idea on a depower line and chickenloop that
I could swap out for this bar. So much of this stuff with all the different bar setups still confuse me. Thanks for your help..

I've been thinking about your chicken loop issue and google some various replacements. A new replacement like an Ozone megaton would be in the $75
plus range. Im not sure your bar is worth that investment. I think a good compromise might be to get in touch with John at power zone and see if he
has an old loop and line off an older flysurfer that someone has upgraded to a newer one. The old flysurfer loops are perfectly safe with a good
release, they just are simple and don't swivel. I'm sure someone has one around and would be cheap!
