Too windy

It's REALLY windy today, 20mph +. Luckily i only took my 1.2m kite out to see what it would be like. I accidently span it and because the wind was so fast, it kept spinning and i couldn't unspin it. I didn't have my stakes on me so i couldn't peg it to the ground and go and roll it up.. so i just had to leg it to the kite before a gust came. Wow it hasn't been this windy for years..

Has anyone been in that situation with a big kite? I think i'd be dead if i took mine out in that :O . From now on i'm keeping my stakes in my pocket. :)

went out to see for myself. Winds only about 16 mph.. Only thing I noticed though was wind was from the South - Which isnt norm for here in Sept. Flew the Sami 3m like a champ, wish I brought the blade though - nice steady wind

I like the 3m in about 15mph+, still easily controlable up to aorund 25mph. But then I'm 16 stone and like being powered up.

Today was 20mph and that was ok. I think it must've been about 30mph that day. I weigh almost half of you :O 8.5 stone.

I can't pull the brakes properly in fast winds to do brake turns, so i can't scutdevenly..

In high winds I'll move my hands down the handles a little, towards the brakes, this makes it easier to really jam on the brakes when needed, If I'm harnessed in I've been known to slide my hands all the way down to the brake leader to really crank the kite around.

Ah, i thought you were supposed to have your finger over the top lines. I tried the same but didn't want to get into a bad habit. So i'll try that next time

If you look at the JoJo handles you'll note, the padded part doesn't start till about 1" down from where the power lines come off the handles. I though it was strange till I flew the kites, If you put your fingers over the power lines you'll never be able to properly apply the brakes with these kites.

I find with the century and Brooza, you only need to move your hands down when really powered up and looping the kite.

Every kite flies differently, you just need to be able to adapt to how it likes to be flown.

Yeah I was advised that as well and it feels good in most winds. But I was out today in 30mph+ winds and had to some finger shuffling to land the kite (a Beamer 2.5m) so next time in a big wind I'll keep my hands below the top lines
