Nearly lost the Psycho
Got nailed by a gust today just as I jumped, ballsed up the landing and then got nailed again even harder as I was face down in the water. Kite was
heading back into the power zone so I released my safety and... the safety line broke :o kite went over the trees, the road, a camping ground and came
to rest in a paddy field.
Kite's totally undamaged, so far as I can tell thank crap it missed all the
cars on the road :o
Yeah... I got a kite. Or two...

WOW that's a bit of bad and good luck at one time. Do they cancel each other out and it ends up being a good day?

I'm glad no bystanders were hurt and that it didn't cause any car accidents. I wonder what would have happened to you if your kite had caused an
accident. Would you get forty lashes?
On another note, I have no idea what happened because the map is in Japanese. :bouncy:

Had similar happen with my 10m Psycho II . 1st time I had to release with new 5th line it snapped and the kite floated over a parking lot and almost
out into the river. Somebody helped me by tossing the bar into the bridle. Took hours to untangle.
I feel your pain.

Kite is nicely packed up in the bag now - apart from no safety line, I could take it straight out and fly it... untangling them is rarely a problem
The map is in... dude what? from the water to the land, about 300m. Went over
these trees:
... as in, the the bar cleared them too :D
Incidentally, I've had a few jumps recently where I've been able to look down over the trees into the carpark at Locus :D
I have NO idea what would happen if it'd caused an accident... it would have sucked big time though. Probably a huge cash pay-out by my
Usually, the kites just go into the trees and get stuck - Mr Miyachi said there has NEVER been a kite go OVER them...! :o

Video of that would have been priceless. ESPECIALLY the look on your face as the dang thing floats off without you. That would have been epic, another
TopHat kind of epic video! I bet you chased it for a while didn't you!
And yes, I'm glad we can laugh about this now and that no one was hurt.

First thought was "Oh gawd the road! The cars!" but as it sailed over them and disappeared over the other side of the road I was ... very relieved :D
Then I was simply calm...
Struggled out of the water and joggled after it but Miyachi was already on it.
Yeah... I got a kite. Or two...

I had a similar incident with a 9m NASA wing. Popped the release [strop & handles] and everything tangled enough to keep the kite in form for
about 400 yds before landing on the roof of a 3 story house [handles were hanging about 6 ft off the ground]. I then had the "pleasure" of knocking
on a guys door in all my gear and sheepishly asking to get on his roof for my kite. Fortunately he had the necessary 3 story ladder so I could get up
there and pull the lines and bridles off of EVERYTHING on his roof. He told me latter he wondered at first why I was caring about a mere "kite" but
then decided if I was wearing armor and a helmet it wasn't a kite you could get at Target :singing::wee:
