SOLD Viokite Proteus 7m - complete and modded

I have a Viokite Proteus 7 for sale. 7.1 m projected area unzipped, 5.8 m projected area zipped. Still crispy and pretty darn clean to boot. There is one hole on the belly near center that is very neatly repaired - see pic. Has the 'taco' bag.

This model was their best all around kite. Speedier and higher aspect than their VR series, but much more stable and gruntier than their Protean II series. See review at http://www.powerkite.me.uk/.

And I've upgraded it to work much better than stock: Full UDSII depower bridle system with Ronstan pullies and spectra bridles. Airrush depower strap and spinning leash chicken loop. FDS-type center flagging safety. Brake handle and grab balls at each brake line. The mods are high quality work.

This kite does not tend to overfly because of the reflexed airfoil. The UDS II gives it great depower range and maintains canopy shape. It's like the older Frenzy rigging, with 2 pulleys per side.

$175 - you pay shipping. Reply via U2U.

Good luck. I can't believe how much I'm enjoying my new Vio Kite VR8. I can only imagine if I it had these mods because it is flat out awesome as is...I do wish it had a trim strap but otherwise just great. That's a great deal a really good all arounder.

Thanks Annie.

Folks, I'm not one to spend much time bumping my own posts. I do have a heckuva lot of kites that don't get used much. My sig lists probably half the collection. This one is old, but works well, especially with the mods.

There are a couple other depower units on here for a LOT more $$$ that I bet don't work as well.

I believe 2005. Viokite went out of business in about 2009 - not exactly sure. Kite is in solid shape. Airrush chicken loop, depower line, and trim strap are all near-new mods to what was, to be frank, a pretty primitive stock bar set-up.

Krum do you have a schematic for the kite's bridle system? Of maybe the modified one.

I have one here that has a messed up bridle that I didn't see before it was messed with so I don't know where stuff should be exactly. I'm close but not quite there. :flaming:

Feyd -

No bridle length charts for the kites bridle. I do have a PDF of the original manual that shows the original depower rig. No length specifics.

Took my lead for the UDSII conversion from http://www.powerkite.me.uk/.
Would be happy to shoot some pics and grab some numbers and pics from the Proteus 5/7m in a week if it's still around and you are working ion that kite. u2u me if you need it.

You get it from Aaron? Think he flew them years ago.

Yeah, got it in a dirty, dirty kite deal with Saude. He lent it out to someone who had an issue with it. I think the bridle may have been partially dissasembled and put back together but not quite right.

I've been unable to get it in the air.

If you have anything you can send to me that may help I'd really appreciate it. The PDF would likely help, at least give me a baseline.

email ad in your U2U. ;-)
