Mobile App OR RSS feed for PKF???
More and more I find myself using my phone for just about everything and anything. Heck, I can shoot video, edit it and post it, all from my phone.
One thing I can't do is read PKF!
Oh sure I can load the web page and zoom in, but trying to select posts or select menus is difficult and annoying to say the least.
So... The question is: When will PKF offer a Mobile App or at minimum an RSS feed. I may not be able to post using RSS but at least I could read PKF
with a dedicated RSS reader for my phone.
Just a thought...

Because this place takes in no money, has no budget, uses 10 year old free forum software.
If you wish to develop one and give it to our godmin, I'm sure he'd appreciate it, but I know he's not going to make it happen on his own.

I don't know what software is used. If the software is still supported then maybe there's an RSS module for it now. That would be really helpful for
mobile.
Also, Mad Moose doesn't seem to be a decade out of date. Just click on the links at the bottom of the page.

The forum software is PhBB, and is old. There have been hundreds of small updates to the PhBB software in that time, and some major revisions as
well. This site runs none of them, the admin is not interested. (New Page Bug anyone?) If we were to throw money at it, perhaps things would change.
As we do not, I don't expect this to ever expand the tech used.

Well, thats unfortunate.
@erratic winds, you seem to know what's going on with the backend. Just what would it take to update to the latest versions of phBB (or other...) and
migrate the database to the new software.
I'd be willing to help, I have experience with unix/linux (been a while) but command line doesn't scare me.
Otherwise...
What about a donations or selling the app.
just throwing out some ideas.

I only know what I know about the PHBB backend because of another forum, and the errors this forum can throw show its age.
I think this is a good idea that we may eventually be able to convince deano of, as long as we make it perfectly hassle-free. http://www.tapatalk.com/ is an interesting start, but it may not be as drag-and-drop as it currently is, based on our older PhBB software.

I noticed PKF was down the other night, now I am unable to access the site with my phone. When I can get PKF on my phone, all I can do is read each
post from start to finish. No u2u's, not able to access the last post, and no pictures or video's.
If you wanted me off the site, just say so. Not able to get the smiles either.

The software is old, but it's not phBB. There is a new version that does include RSS. I'll
install it once I find the time. Considering the number of mods I've installed, it will take longer than a simple upgrade. I'll do my best to get to
it soon.

Since this thread is pretty old and I am not seeing an RSS link (and can't read the site well on my phone), I'd like to bump this thread up.
