Yup, not a bad lil kite for the $$$, fly's like it's supposed to, build quality seems up to par. I'd label it a good entry level kite. If your after speed or lift you'll want more kite, but for cruising around in a bug or board it'll get it done.

Not as much of an upwind machine as I'm used to nor as quick, but well suited for the beginner/intermediate range.

Yup, and it's not one of the stronger 5m kites, some put it to shame, but they're not as user freindly, The PL is a nice blend of power and control for people getting into larger kites.

How about your experience with the Peter Lynn Reactor 3.8? Angus seems to like them as an alternative to the Beamer 4.0 or 5.0.

Haven't flown the Reactor yet, I'm just a wee bit of a PKD guy myself, I usually try and get my hands on anything I can thought, see how everything compares and such, Just haven't gotten my hands on a Reactor yet.

I just sent a message to Jake, as you suggested. I may sign up for lessons with him. He carries some Peter Lynn stuff but not the Reactor, I'm certain he could order one for me. It may be crazy, but I'm just looking to be a little different, so many Beamer people out there, I dont want to be flying the same thing as everybody else on the beach. Gotta be different, ya know? And, I do like the look of the Reactor vs the Beamer, no way to pick a kite, but I will be looking at it alot when flying, so might as well like what it looks like, right? Still open to suggestions of course. What do you think of the beginner, intermediate kites in the PKD line? (or, is that the Beamer?)
I went into my local shop yesterday, Four Winds in Everett, they didn't have much in stock.
Makes me wonder about Prism kites. I believe they are local, do they not make traction kites? I have heard nothing of them on this site.

I don't think that Prism makes that hot of a traction kite, they're more for hanging out at a beach, Their stunt kites are great though.

As for the beginner (BusterII) and (intermediate Brooza II) kites from PKD, I think they're great. Everyone who's gotten around a buster II has liked them, they're a solid first kite. I use them heavily for teaching people how to fly all the way up to some freestyle for buggies & boards. Myself I usually fly a Brooza, they're decent in poor winds and have a nice ballance of lift and speed. Nothing as crazy as the blades, but more than enough for my liking if you go out powered up. The 7.5m Brooza has a fair ammount of float as well. I know that Jake can get them in as well. If you're serious about trying them out I'll be passing through on my way to NABX.

I am curious about the Reactor though, It seems to be billed as more of a speed machine. Sounds like it's being billed as an entry level race kite. I'll have to get my hands on one of them one of these days.

Like I said, if you can find a spot down there, a couple of us could be talked into a road trip.

I think of the Reactor not as entry level per se, but safe enough for a newbie if they want to use it as such and can afford a little more than the Beamer (and alot more than the Pepper).

Like the Flexifoil Rage and Ted's Pro-Foils from www.kiteinovations.com, it's a higher performance kite that is still stable enough in lumpy air, and smooth and predictable so as not to frustrate a novice. Still, like any kite start in light air and work up.
