Everyone says the buster 2 3m. I'm 18 (not much different than 14) and it's definately easy to get the hang of

Depending on the weight of such kiddlet, a 2-3m buster is a good choice. With the average kiddlet iq, it's best to start them on something that won't hurt them in high winds, guaranteed, they'll take it out the first day that the wind's doing 30mph.

That's what i did when i got my buster 3m :D lucky i had some experience with a little 1.2m kite first

I love the slingshot 2.0 .. it is not a 2 meter kite it is smaller but it flys very well. I can not count the times it has hit the ground streight in and not damanged it. It will fly in wind form 5mph on light lines . to over 50mph on 300lb lines.. it hanldles like a stunt kite (slower one) but. Has all the advantages of a foil. It will also in 15 to 25 mph wind give a kid a taste of what Tractions is about..

i am 15 and i have been power kiting for about 2 years, i started off with a flexifoil sting 1.2 beginner power kite. it was great for the first 3 times i flew it but i was expecting more power given that i am/was 6ft and 15 stone. So now i have a 5.5 flexifoil bullet which is much better.

For your kid i would go with the biggest kite that will excite him but something that he wont be dissapointed or bored with in a month.

I recommend flexifoil as they are great quality even if you have to pay a little more. The Rage is a great kite ideal for you.

I would try not to go for anything less than 2.5 meters cos he/she will get used to the power and get bored quickly.

Start with a duo control kite, I would stay under a 2.0 if possible.

If you are going to supervise than a bit over 2.0 until the child get some experience.

Don't forget to use a kite killer (one side only). If he lets go when the kite is powered up, you will have to chase it quite a distance. And depending on where it comes down, you will be responsible for damages.

Example:
The kite gets away and comes down in traffic and someone freaks, hits another vehicle.

The Sting from Flexifoil is an awesome quad line training kite without the fear of traction. I guess the larger sizes in some good wind would give them a little fun, but the 1.2m sting is FANTASTIC for learning.
