Land/Snow/Water Front Range of Colorado?
Hello all!
New to the forum but eyeing for a while. Been paragliding since '07 but FINALLY started kiting last year. Cut teeth on the water in Maui last fall;
been snow kiting this winter and added land boarding recently.. itching for summer to get back on water. Interested in meeting others in the sport(s)
along the front range of CO...I know there are others but currently feel like I am the only person with a kite! With regards!!!

Heya,
Welcome. Nick (erratic winds) and I ride together whenever our schedules converge, and I fly with Paul (jeepers) and the kite gang whenever I can.
Those guys will get you squared away, but you can also hit me up for advice.
I just recently went to aurora res and met some of the gang out there. It's 20mins from my house and the winds are better than stuff to the west, so I
think I'll be heading there a lot in the coming months. Need to look into a kiteboard, though. I'm on a landboard and soon a buggy, but water hurts
a lot less. Of course, you can't suffocate on dirt, so I suppose its a trade off.

Proletariat,
Thanks for the welcome and the info! Erratic winds and I have exchanged some msgs but winds and schedules have yet to result in a ride - looking
forward to it though. I'll take up advice from all that will spare the time to offer it!! So share anything anytime. Sometime we'll end up meeting
somewhere even if just by chance as I get more adventurous checking out more sites. FWIW I'd love to meet the crew at Aurora - not too big a drive for
me. Certainly would enjoy learning the site/rules there before I ever get the incline to get wet. On another front; you could take my board ('13 136
xcaliber) for a spin. My wife has a buggy showing up Friday - she'll be stoked to know of another buggy in the area....and i'll be stoked to know I
can hijack her soon to arrive Apex8 she got for it when it isn't in use:D ....although it may be the same sweet spot as my LEI 9...
Jeepers: sorry I didn't respond about Sunday-wound up being a crazy weekend. Visited a buddy at his house he just bought...another time though
Thanks all!

We are going to the Aurora park on Sunday.
I will be there and I think John (Cerbite) as well. Come on out, even for a little time, to meet and greet.

By Aurora park I assume Dove Valley? and what time do you guys typically get out? I'm pretty sure I can show up for a while early in the day - not
quite sure what this weekend might yield yet but Sunday morning"ish" looks good. I am one of those lucky/unlucky exceptions where weekdays are very
free and weekends are not quite as much.

subscribe to
milehikite on yahoo groups to get the lowdown on where we go.
We are not going to DOVE VALLEY. The Arvada Kite Festival is changing location to "Stenger Soccer Complex".
We want to give this field a try so we are going there Sunday.
From others that have been there:
We will be going to "Stenger soccer complex".
Stenger is West of Kipling Parkway along 56th I believe. South side of 56th.
It is between 56th and 58th, so north of 56 . A lot of the signage on the ground
was calling it Edge.

LOL I'm in. Stenger is kind of a bunch of well...unaccepting/closed minded people.
I'm all over the chance to ride on their fields.
EDGE is the soccer group that bankrolls the Stenger Complex currently, And they...well, they are 100% certain that soccer fields are for their use,
and their use only, regardless of it being public land or parks. I look forward to meeting a representative of EDGE soccer who is not going
apoplectic because his kids are distracted by a kite.(mmmmmm...maybe go yell at the kids to pay attention?)

family get togethers today for Mthrs day...
so unfortunately I won't be able to make it - may your winds be ideal! Next time

I saw that the Lil Devil pulled in the cuties for you.
It is a fun little amusing kite that makes you remember that sometimes you just have to go back and ride the little BMX bike that was wicked awesome
in 7th grade.

Although John has the honors of being the Fastest Coloridian (1 of 2), he is still not fast enough to not sink on water.
However, I will hold his beer if he wants to try.

I'd like to give the lake McConaughy thing a try sometime. Probably would need to get a wet suit though. Anyone on here make regular trips from the
front range?

Sorry I couldn't get to Dove! I did sneak out for a few hours late yesterday - gusty but still fun. Yeti - I've been eyeing Mac all spring -
according to http://www.ilovelakemac.com/the-lake/outdoor-report/ the water temp is still only 49. I just got a 5/4/3 wetsuit for a pretty good price from
wetsuitwearhouse just for this situation (I always freeze - even in summer). depending on your threshold and the air temp you might get away with a
thinner one but no wetsuit you'd have to truly be a Yeti :D
I would love to take a trip to mac - if any one is interested maybe we could meet up - I can fit 4 comfortably/w gear.
