The place I generally go is to West Marine Supply. Theres one just across the I5 bridge in Delta Park by the home depot, same exit as P.I.R. and Portland Meadows. Same prices as the internet stores. Plus, theres no tax.

B.C. and Ken 2
Being from Oregon , I'll just call you Chris :smug:

I am aware of West marine. Somehow when I search there I only see inserts not full pulley assembly ?

Harken look so much cheaper ? Are they that bad ? I mean .... it's a PANSH after all ? Don't want to spend more on pulleys than I'll ever get from the kite.

It appears theres a West Marine up your way. They should carry both Ronstan and Harken as well. Maybe get some spare Dyneema while you're there, never know when that stuff can come in handy!

Idk.... Not familiar with the pansh mixer setup, but if the 20 series aren't to big for your application i'd rock the ronstan orbit 20's. Guess it only matters in worst case scenario, but the line thru hub design comforts me just knowing it's there. Should give them a peak in person.

west marine kite blocks ronstan a pack of 2 about $10.

just reworked pulse 2 mixer for all 6. orbits are nice for sure ordered a set for a tube kite as back up.... the sand around here is so fine the mini blocks just last longer, the bearing units are too sensitive but are nice when they're fresh.

I just thought about something regarding pulleys. I THINK MyAikenCheeks sells something that was designed for the military. They use it on their weapons BECAUSE of the sand. And it will work for pulleys, and bearings etc. The product comes in a can, and you can spray on the bearings and it will prevent the sand from sticking. Unlike grease or oil or even silicon spray, this sort of repels sand. It's also dielectric! It's really awesome stuff.

I don't know how much, if you're interested you may want to give him a shout via U2U.

If you've received this message I am no longer a member and I will not be reading any U2U's or posts.

Marine store on Fifth just east of Burrard used to sell the Ronston kite blocks - the nylon bodied ones. I thought Ronston stopped making those after accidents when the sheave popped out.

I don't know a lot about pulleys.

The " blocks " for $10 look like just the inner wheel ? That is all that comes up on West marines site ?
The whole pulley assembly looks like at least $25 when I google Ronstan ?
I wasn't aware of the marine shop on Burrard and 5th. That is where I'll start !

You only call them pulleys later in the relationship.

"Blocks" on the first couple of dates.

Probably looking for something in the 20 series

20 Series

Or Orbits if you want to go upscale and go through the sheave:

20 Series Orbit

There are connected like this, so if the block fails, the loop through the sheave (center of the block) still have the other line "captured" and you can limp home.

Sam

I think I am set ?

I am so ignorant to these things I may be wrong. The Ronstan pulleys I got are actually called " KiteBlock " ? Small and light . 330MWL 660 BL . They lack the safety of the line running through the block like Sam's picture but they will be a step up from the ones on there.

http://www.kitepower.com.au/ronstan-kite-block.html

No wind today so I'm off to see if I am up to replacing them . ( got them on and they look the job? )

Steveston on 5th had a real poor selection. Sent me to west marine. Didn't even know it was there. GREAT shop !
