Hello

I joined this forum because i own a trainer kite 3,5.

Now i would want to upgrade - to do something more with this sport but all proper locations for kiteboarding or kitesurfing are like 40 miles away.
The coast here is rocky and densely populated. In the summer there are lots of people and boats. As i see it, the kite would have to be launched from water directly. Can this be done?

The fields here are small. For sure you would have to turn after just 30sec at best.:sniff:

Anyway local dealer has some good price on closed cells kite 15m. My weight is 100kg (200lbs) and thinking to use it in small to medium winds. According to articles i read this size would be OK for me.
I am kind of scared that i would upgrade from 3,5 already to 15m.:o
I just don't want to end buying something i don't need.

thanks

+ 1 for lessons.

You learn a lot about self rescue and how to deal with other marine traffic that is hard to figure out alone. Lessons propel you into a self sufficient state in much safer / faster time than fumbling on your own.

40 miles is CLOSE for a good launch ! Drift launching is not worth it with a good launch that close ! The boat traffic makes it an even worse idea.

Yes, 3.5m FB to a 15m depower is about as big a leap as you can take ! What make / model is this kite . Are you choosing it because it's a good deal or because the shop owner says it's the best size for your location ? I find it odd the shop owner isn't pushing LEI if water is your goal ?

I say, take a few lessons. THEN you will know what size + style of kite is best.
