Well, finally got a chance to pull out the big gun today. I was a little worried about the sheer size of the thing so I waited till the wind was
extremely light, not another kite would stay in the sky properly, not even the 9m Buster on long lines.
Anyhoo, kite has no problem sitting while pegged on the lines, took a few tries to get the brakes set up to the right tension. Now the suprising part,
Keep in mind that there's barely enough wind to russle the leaves on the trees, not a branch moving in sight. One tug of the lines and it goes
straight up to the top of the window and parks. Incredible pull, dive the kite and there's no holding it back, when it's in the power, She pulls hard.
Needless to say, the kite is very big, slower to turn than I'm used to, and needs lots of brakes to get it around a tight turn. But it'll pull the bug
no problem, Now if you don't have exp flying race kites, best to avoid this one, Also if you're flying in a small feild it'll be a pain, it takes some
time to get up to cruising speed, once you're there it'll lock in and park pulling you along no problem. The wind picked up to about 6mph and it was
flying sweet, not much luffing, nice even pull from high in the window.
If you have long runs with clean wind and tend to get days of 5-10mph and want to rip, it may be a consideration. I know I look forward to getting
this kite going down at NABX and the SOBB. gonna go chase a 16m RM+
A couple things I am going to change though, I was flying on medium lenght handles. I think I'll try it on some longer ones, I was having some trouble
getting enough throw on the brakes to really whip the kite around. I was also flying on 30m lines. While that usually gives you a huge window. 13m of
kite eats the window up pretty fast. I think I need to track down a set of 40m lines, either that or make up some 20m line extensions and try it on
50m lines. With a bigger window it'll make it easier to keep the kite on the power, maybe even get some more low end out of it.
Thankfully it's a low wind kite, I'd hate to imagine trying to get the sucker back in it's bag if the wind was strong enough to blow the kite around.
Best I could come up with in reasonably light wind was some weight bags on the kite, pack up one half, then the other. Otherwise it's just too big.
Wingspan is around the 20ft mark.
