Surprised the list didn't include

  • Flight Suits

  • Speed Flying

  • Vertical Snowmobiling

  • Free Diving / Underwater Basejumping

  • Long Distance Sled Racing (i.e. Iditarod)

  • Rallying (i.e. Paris-Dakar)

  • Street Luge

  • and because that's not psycho enough.... powered Street Luge

The list is probably endless....

Sam

I guess "statistically" is the magic word here. The more people or the more popular a risky hobby is the greater number of people that will succumb to injury or death. I think driving could be considered the most dangerous "statistically" but not many call that a hobby. I find it amusing when people are afraid to fly on a commercial jet because it's "dangerous", but think nothing of hopping in their car and speed down the highway inches from other cars.

Yeah, it is all relative, and you need to take it with a pinch of salt.. And what about the bull run at pamplona ! ? This is a great post by the way! I'd love to try some of the sports mentioned ! :D

I read recently that 'kite fighting' was the most dangerous sport !!

Cool collection of vids.

Mountaineering is by far the most dangerous thing I do. Most of the time the consequence of a slip is death or very serious injury. + there is weather and avalanches to think of in the winter. When things go wrong they go very wrong. Fortunately equipment and experince allow you to minimise those risks to a high degree.

Kite landboarding feels like the most dangerous thing I do because the chances of getting hurt are quite high. Its not very likely to kill me though - just bust me up a bit.

The activity that has actually given me the most injuries is horse riding.... I only do that once a year or so these days though. getting a bit old for falling off horses :D
