Tow hitch buggy carrier

I've seen quite a few people with tow-hitch mounted buggy carriers, especially with Libra buggies on them. If you have such a mount, that allows the buggy to be carried off the car, completely assembled, could you take a picture and post it here? Or send it to me?

I'm considering getting one welded up for me to haul my PL Monster.

Thanks

Funny you should ask now. Dad and I built one this weekend for my Libre. We started with one of those hitch mounted platforms for carrying extra luggage. Then we welded a square tube to it for my buggy's down-tube to slide into about 4-6". The rear tires sit on the platform. A rachet tie-down for extra security.

My buggy rode from Reno, NV to Stage Coach, NV (Misfits Flat) and back, and then from Carson City all the way home. Safe and sound.

It was my first welding experience. It isn't real pretty, but it works.

A tow hitch cycle rack? If so, can you sent a link?

Or one that straps onto the truck/tailgate of a car?

The Monster buggy is about 72lbs (33kg), and over 2 meters long.

While it's not a hitch, I built a good car top rack for my buggy...

http://picasaweb.google.com/anguscoastal/BuggyRack

It could be adapted to the PL Bigfoot (is that what you meand by Monster?), but at that weight, I guess it would most easily be a two man job to mount and dismount the buggy but it could be done by one with some planning and grunting. This rack is very secure, though.

This shows a 33 lb Rockville KiteTrike.

Whatever method you use, you will certainly appreciate not having to assemble your bug when pulling up to the flying field!

I hate trailering. Here in the states at least, the max speed limit is 55mph when towing and you can only drive in the right 2 lanes on the freeway with all the 18-wheelers. Takes infinately longer to get anywhere! But yeah, sometimes trailers are a neccesary evil.

No, the Monster was a model put out by PL for a short time. Couple places in Europe sold it, at least online, but I was not aware of it being sold in the US. I bought this one off of Dean at NABX'05

I think I know what I want the welder to make for me; basically just a holder for the back axle, and a vertical to keep the buggy from falling over. It will extend over the top of the car by about 21". Ease of loading the buggy and easy washing off is the main reason for this.

Hey Steve.

I think the one you were seeing was Todd Z's @ Fall Buggy Boogie, correct?

I have rigged that thing time in and time out.

The biggest question is do you want to be able to carry more than 1 buggy?

When we use Todd's, his Libre goes on first against the vertical support, then we strap my Flexi to his.

Either way, give me a call. We'll make it happen. It hurts me every time I see you lift that monster onto your car. :o

Ciao

I'm sorry about my first reply. My first time.
But here's a system I found. (See attached)
