Wow this brings back memories of money flushed down the toilet.
Can't find any pictures but at one time I did have 17 tanks of freshwater fish , the smallest be in 10 gallon and the largest being a hundred and fifty gallon. And 7 saltwater tanks, the smallest being 25 gallon and the largest being 250 gallon. We had all kinds tropical fish that we raised for the local fish store. As for the saltwater tanks we raised live coral, snowflake eels, and a bunch of the little ones such as blue tangs, and a bunch more I can't remember the name of.
I do miss watching them, they did supply a lot of enjoyment. I don't miss the cleaning at all. My problem was I wanted more and I was not satisfied with just one tank.

Now I take care of a piece of property that has 3 waterfall ponds, 1 waterfall River, and 4 fountains.
The only fish we have in any of these are the cheap goldfish, much easier to spend $10 to feed the cranes than spend hundreds of dollars on a couple fish.

I started a saltwater set up but never got to fully decorate it. That live rock is expensive. When I bought my house I sold the fish because I didn't want to try and move the set up.

My Red Devil and some jellybean parrots. If you skip in a little you can get a better perspective of the size of the fish. The Red Devil is about 14" tail included. The others are like small grapefruits.

Was bitten hard by the fish hobby in the 90's. Only had three tanks, largest a 75 gal that housed african Ciclids, specifically Tanganikan species. Lost interest after 10yrs but still entertain the thought from time to time. Lots of stuff still hanging around the house! Wife always want's me to set a tank back up, but guess who has to take care of it?

Oh how I loved my African Ciclids too. All the colors of salt water without the salt. Had a 50 gal tank for those. Never got a cap on the explosive reproduction abilities though. Very cool. They would gulp all the babies up after playtime and spew them back out after a while. Was just too much to keep the breeding under control.

Been keeping Saltwater Reefs and aquaculturing hard and soft corals for about 18 years.

Here's my overcrowded present 135 gallon, 6 foot long, 2 foot high.................a 180 is waiting out in the garage to move all this 250 pounds of rock and corals/fish into, but I hate the thought of tearing this one down.

this has brought back some things I have forgotten. The biggest thing about having so many tanks was the wight factor. All of mine were on one wall of the office and after doing a bit of math and determining the total weight of all the tanks and stuff, came to the conclusion that I had better instal a support beam under that part of the floor. Everything added up to 3900lbs, like parking the car on the wall as an art piece.
One of the other nightmares was the transporting of a 150 gallon glass salt tank, with everything still in it.
Moved it from one house across town and into my office, in the back if my pickup. 9 guys carried it out into the truck bed and plugged it into an inverter and drove slower than the snails 5 miles and then carried it up 6 steps into the office, and installed it into the wall. Spilled a bit of water but nothing else went wrong.

all of you guys have great pics and I know how much work they are. You got to have a joy to love a fish tank and keep it.

FEEDING TIME!!!

Very shaky video (camera phone is acting up) but you can see my Koi pond/ aquaponics garden. The big koi is a butterfly koi about 8 years old, the rest are young goldfish hybrids.

The chilli peppers at the end of the vid are over four years old and have been continuously producing fruit for that time. It is lit only by the sky light over head.

Anyone else ever try an aquaponics garden?

Cool thread.
I built this koi pond (lousy pic) a few summers ago to replace a smaller one elsewhere on our property. This is about 6,000 gallons. The largest fish in the pic is over 20 yrs old about 24" long and the ugly net thing in the pic is holding about 50 fry from this year. Can't see all the fish in the pic but we have some fancy gold fish in there too along with other varieties of koi.

Wife and I still laugh about the circus we had moving the fish from old to new pond....I was standing in the old pond netting in a tube net - handing it up to Joanna (wife) while she either ran down to the new pond and released or placed into a tote of water...the last few fish did NOT want to go...

Jeff

3shot - your tank is amazing - to have koi in a crystal clear tank is impressive. Koi are pretty but are sure FILTHY!!

Your orange and black could be a twin of one of our fry from last year-here is a small pic of it. Right now it is about 6" long and one of the fancy goldfish is to the left.

BTW - I like your mood...to go along "sorry about your mom's face Ricky" :)
