the beach from hell, (at least it started that way).

Been out the last 2 days and the frustration level has been higher than the tide.
The beach does not deserve to be called a beach, maybe a salty wet pile of sand at the best.
Everything about it is wrong and a problem to fight with. While fighting with the public and the low wind(0-2mph) I did get some play time in but had to work at it way to much.
The soft dry upper beach is too soft for bigfoots and you cant get going in any direction as you are drug along with the kite.
The lower section at the water is ok with bigfoots but too soft for barrows.
The sectin between the upper and lower were the traffic drives is not wide enough to drive on even with a small buggy.
There are pools of water deep enough to dive into and sand bars that are surroundedon 3 sides.
The elevation of the beach is 6 feet in spots.

So with all this, and all the different buggies and different setups I have, along with a 12m kite on 200 feet of line, i was able to have a bit of fun for a few minutes.
I flipped my buggy changing direction as I was sliding sideways down a 3 foot drop off into the water and was dragged to the other side of the pond as the kite reached the zenith it lifted me up to my feet and thats when the buggy let go of me.
Most of the time it was like trail riding because of the bad sand and all the trucks driving next to me trying to talk to me as I am trying to get down the beach. Not knowing they are on the only hard part of the beach that I need to access to get back.
So it was off to the surf and through the ponds to get past the people.l

Now to my point of this thread.
With 3 buggies, and 3 different tire setups, any one buggy would not work but for a small area of the beach. Not being able to park the kite and head up or down the beach with a perfect onshore wind was a bit frustrating. The sand wasnt consistant, and the beach was not flat at all. I watched a jeep going down the beach and it looked as if he was at a monster truck race with all the jumps and holes to bomb through.
17 inch Sysmic wheels and tires woulnt work, 21inch beach racers were useless, and the barrows were a joke.

I am hoping for a better day today as a few others will be out trying to buggy. I will sit and watch:evil:

Yep, stood around and played with a few kites and I did not buggy. I did enjoy watching a few others deal with the stuff I did yesterday. Wet kites are not fun, and the walk of shame is even better when you can point and laugh. Thanks guys, you made my day. Should we try again in the morning? HaHaHaHaHaHa. you guys are great.

Feeling your pain guys, my beaches are always changing and are sometimes unridable. I have a lot to choose from but you could waste the whole day checking them all out!

They are better in the winter though which is when i do most of my buggy/landboard riding.

Wow sweet little video. The beach sure looks better up there than it does down below. Thanks for the smile, I had to get back to work for a day or 2 and this makes it a little bit better.

yeah, based on BS-P-A-M-L-I-N-K-s description of the beach, I expected normandy during the landing, from your aerial video it looks amazing.

I was 2 miles farther up the beach. Its hard to see the elevation changes from so far up.
If you walk accross the wet sand you will leave little puddles where you stepped.

Thanks for the video Herb, was a fun weekend! Amazed Jeff could buggy on those 288ft lines, was a handful flying static... Enjoyed watching how you flew that 24m Phantom on 180ft lines while riding the haize/flexboardz. Hope to get down to the south coast area for another NAPKRA event soon.
