Monkey Kites Anyone have info on these?

I see a local craigslist ad for a quiver of 3 monkey kites/griffin purchased brand new. They are 9m, 17m and 25m. Comes with two bars with lines, 5 extra chicken loops, 3 harnesses and a board. The 9 meter kite has been used once on the beach. 17m has been used once on the beach and the 25m has never been opened. The dude wants 400.00 for the whole set. Is this a good deal? Any one have info on these kites like a link to a downloadable user manual. Or reviews?

$400 sounds like he stole a couple of kite bags from a local surfer...

He lives in Phoenix AZ and bought them from a company going out of business in Rocky Point while he was on vacation. He is 55 years old. I do not think he stole them. Any one have any info on these kites?

I have seen some local surfers selling theirs in my Chicago area, but I have not flown one or heard much bad or good about them. If it helps make your decision, the guys selling them here are asking that much for a single used kite. Either way I would almost suggest to snatch them up, even if you are just going to resell them and get something else that you are more sure of.

You will enjoy the 9, you'll find the rare day where the 17 will do you, and honestly, that 25m's never getting out of the bag unless you want to kite-boat, that's a kite for a big big fat guy, not a light wind wing.

Have flown monkey griffin's in the 9 and 17. Hated that there was no one-pump system, but was pretty happy with the way the wing flew in the air....

As long as the wings are in good shape it's not a bad deal at all!

Tide? What's a tide? Man, it's 1000 miles to any ocean.

Here is a previous thread on the kite.
Sounds like there was a big improvement from 07 to 08. What year are yours?

Flexifoil: 1.7m Sting, 4.9m Blade 3, 9m Blade 2.
