i've seen this before. And I was reterrified again
I second that!
Silvereagle: What do you mean by "not tolerated"? Did OSHA ban free climbing? Do towers now have a built in static line or something? I would
think that you have to unhook at some point. Just curious is all..
My hats off to you and the folks that do this for a living

With modern lanyards and safety climb systems you can stay 100% tied off to most modern towers.
A blatant witnessed incident of free climbing can get you caned, your company kicked off a job, ext, ext.
But there are the .001% times when you jest half to get it done
The Tower Industry tried to beat OSHA to the punch on setting safety standards in the late 90s (roughly).
I've always wondered what it would be like to fly a trainer kite from the top of one of those towers. Without a ground for the kite to collide with,
it would be interesting to see how the kite flies below the pilot's altitude as opposed to above.
There are seven massive radio towers clustered together that I can see outside my house, but don't ask me to test that kite experiment out myself.
I've got some college work to do. :duh:

I have a t-shirt that says "KNOw FEAR". Shows a hole in the ground the shape of a body with some lines coming out of the hole tied onto a parachute.
At the head of the hole is a head stone with RIP on it.

Anything over 30 feet is usually lethal if ya step off so the height thing was always kind of moot for me but those first two sections were a white
knuckle ride every trip. IMO, Hot Mop roofing is a helluva lot more dangerous. What bothered me was the gusty days. I don't usually get sea sick but
working through a blow on a tower did it to me every time. I think we had 3 trips up to T Site above McMurdo that the weather as calm. The rest of the
time the whole array was singing. Besides, nothing breaks when it's calm and sunny.
