See my quiver for a hole between a 1.7m, and a 3.3.
My wife really enjoys the 1.7 twin line, but sometimes being that small, it's almost too snappy fast...........so I'm tempted to get her a 2.3 twin
line foil, as a Peter Lynn 2.3 is only $110 bucks now.
but.....
While she's intimidated by my PKD 3.3 Soulfly, I want to show her control and finess of her first 4 line, instead of just grunt pull
I'm wondering, as a wife kites, what model to get as a first 4 line............so maybe a bigger 2.3 twin line, or a 2.2-2.5 quad line of same
size(s).
Slow and stable without a ton of pull. The bulletproof first 4 line kite for her
suggestions from the PKF brain-trust?
I want to keep it under $150-$200ish, and in the 2.3-2.5 range of sail.

It's also possible to convert a twin line to quad line. It's not that hard. Click on the HQ Symphony 2.2.4 link in my signature.
Also have you considered a Prism Snapshot 2.5? It comes as a two line but has bridles ready made for quad line flying. Just add lines/handles.. Kitty Hawk Kites has it for around $159..FWIW, the teal is the older model and might not be four line ready.
Ozone Imp Quattro 2m. I have the 2.5m - it's the most docile kite I've ever flown. My Beamer III 2m was a little faster and better handling - I
actually think it had more power than the 2.5m Imp. If the Beamer II is anything like the III then it should be just the ticket. Zebra checka or Z1
are also cheap, bulletproof and excellent value for $
Here's a thought for a small kite that's too fast - add a tail ?
It doesn't make you jump up to the size of a 3M (Beamer, Octane, etc.)
It won't be too close in size to your existing 1.7M which might be a concern for something in the 2.0-2.2M size.
The Sting has a very friendly power ramp that gives you some lead time before things get squirelly or unmanageable and it's pretty tolerant of gusts.
Once your wife is comfortable with it, it will still generate some power, if you "work" the kite.
About the only thing that I would do before handing the controls over to your wife (and I would pretty much recommend this with any kite), is make
sure that the brakes are dialed in and the winds are mild for the first few outings.
I will admit to being biased as the Sting 1.2 & 2.4 were my first proper quad foils.... heavily influenced by viewing:
The assessment of their characteristics still stand though.

The Quad 2.5 complete with Lines and Handles, ready to fly $165.00
It is very econo, and not as fancy as the Hornet or more expensive lines, but it flies very well and is priced excellent. This is the perfect 1st
kite.
we have a prism snapshot 2.5. It has been a great kite that's a blast to fly once converted to 4 line with handles. I bought the kite for $150
(amazon), handles for $20 (bigmikeskites), and brake lines from prism ($30)

sounds horrible kite flying weather I know, I'll just have to take one for the team. Will post pics from the Old Kona Airport with a Mai Tai in my
hand and the Peter Lynn in the other. That's what twin lines are for right?
