Went to Jekyll Island last weekend.
I don't know about you, but I've been crazy busy with school, work and kiddos, so kite time has become all but nonexistent lately... So when wifey
says, "HEY, let's go to Jekyll and hit the beach!" I'm all over it like flies on poo!! Some of you may remember how I posted about my first go with
the 8.6m RII in the buggy seat and how I busted a bridle on the kite on its 2nd flight while in my posession, LIKE A MONTH AGO... Well that was the
last time I have ridden in my bug, so I was all about running down to JI for some family beach fun and buggy time.
I had hoped we would be able to afford to have a trailer hitch put on Ashli's car so we could rent a uhaul trailer for all our camping and kiting
gear. But lo... The budget did not permit... so I ran out to the shop an modified my original car topper buggy rack to fit the VTT bug AND the
Frankentandem.
That looks like dedication there.
We borrowed a friend's 10 man cabin style "night at the casba" uber huge tent and set up out own little Cair Paravel in the JI campground. So after
leaving Hotlanta at 6:30am, and setting up camp we headed down for a few hours on the beach. Angus came down to the beach and visited, but wasn't
feeling well so was unable to join in the buggying fun. I pulled out my 4m Core and flew it from the buggy seat for the fist time since Markite fixed
it for me... (In spite of the wind being only 8 to 10mph, the hard packed smooth sand allows you to scale down kite size without much trouble)... What
a great kite. Here's the shot Ashli sent out on Instagram:
So Friday night after getting all 3 kids to sleep, our 2yr old wakes up and proceeds to REFUSE to go back to sleep... After many attempts to get her
to sleep, Ashli gets in the car with her and unintentionally runs the car battery down to death... BAH. So neither she nor I got much of any sleep,...
But somehow (she constantly amazes me) my wife remains SUPER positive and we muddle through the morning with coffee and Cheerios and get the car
jumped off so we can take the kids to the playground to wait out high tide. I let Ashli sleep in the car while watching the girls on the playground.
The tide goes out and we head down to the beach for more fun. The wind is up to 13mph Saturday, so I opt for the 2.6m Viper and run the kiddos up and
down the beach in the tandem for a good long while... Finally it was time to pack up. Back to the casba for hotdogs, s'mores and some well needed
sleep, and hurrah the baby slept through the night.
Woke up and packed up camp and stopped by Driftwood beach and headed home.
All in all in spite of the troubles we had a great time and we feel blessed that we were able to do it... Now as soon as October is over I'll be done
with school until after the holidays so then it'll be easier to get out and ride.
Thanks for reading,
Spencer

Nice write up! Sounds like an excellent holiday to me. It's great
that you can involve your kids in the buggy too. Every time I mention to my wife that she could come with me.... I get laughed at!

Thanks for the ride along!
I had my best luck with kiting with my wife at Jekyll Island. Even an anniversary was spent there for HQ Demo days one year. She's been to Ivanpah
once................... When Jared bumped the door lock as he was getting out of the car. She had to drive down to unlock the car for us and never
got out.

You should have seen the back behind the seats... Every square inch floor to ceiling was a game of 3-D Tetris... packed to the gills!
