Announcing Ivanpah Buggy Blast
I am excited and honored to announce that Brian Holgate and I have teamed up along with a great deal of support from many others, to bring you Ivanpah
Buggy Blast on Ivanpah Dry Lake.
It has been largely discussed that many kite buggiers want an event that maintains a level of consistency people can rely on across the globe. The
other thought was to return the emphasis to kiting and the people. Ivanpah Buggy Blast is a new event that will do just that.
Ivanpah Buggy Blast or IB2 will focus on the basics of sharing the dry lake with wind enthusiasts and their family. Participants will have a $50 entry
fee which will be used to cover the costs to put on the event. Since spectators, non-flying visitors and non participating members of the family
don’t incur costs for the event, they will not be charged a fee to attend. IBB will have racing which will be organized by NAPKA, freestyle events,
and clinics for anyone trying to improve their skills.
This will also be an industry event. Manufacturers will be given an area to set up a tent, demo the latest and greatest gear, and offer clinics or
classes.
The dates for the event are April 1st - 5th 2014. Participants will be allowed to arrive on Sunday or Monday March 30-31st. This event will be set
up at the Staging Area 2 on the East side of Ivanpah Dry Lake. We look forward to seeing you at the 1st annual Ivanpah Buggy Blast.

Thanks Bob, Brian and all who are putting this together ! Sorry but I don't think I can make it this year.
Won't this conflict with the NABSA event that Jeff talks about here?
http://www.powerkiteforum.com/viewthread.php?tid=26523
I have searched the net + asked on here what NABSA is but have not found out anything about it ?
Will the event be open to all and just the racing be NAPKA or will all attendees need to join NAPKA ?

NABSA will be at Area 1 and we are at Area 2. At the gathering last year, we coexisted easily with the second event going on. The blokarts seem to
run the same circuit mainly in front of their camp, but even with interaction, it worked well. I expect nothing different this year regarding sharing
the playa with them.

Last year I paid two entries early for NABX then I started hearing rumors about the permit not being acquired so I sent some messages inquiring they
couldn't even find my entries I sent them a receipt for my entries they said no problem show up and we will have permits for you well to be safe I
ordered a free permit from BLM just to make sure I can buggy when I got there when I got there I showed up no permits for me but thankfully I have my
BLM permit already. no T-shirts for me I got one T-shirt three months later needless to say I will be attending the Ivanpah buggy blast this year
thank you Bobby and Brian!

After going to nabx 2 years in a row, the event just didn't do anything for me any more... I wasn't going back to Ivanpah... Sold my little vapor with
playa damage... Tore apart my buggy to make it BF only...
Now I have a feeling that I want to go back
As a napka member (and rep for chapter 11), this could be the closest event where we get the chance to have a go at racing. (and then chilling out
with a brew or 2)
We have fun chasing each other around our little park or at the beach (drool) we find a few markers to go around and the fun begins.
I am excited to see how the Manufacturers support this event... Would be nice to have the opportunity to try a kite, buggy or whatever and say here
are my $$, I want that!
Hopefully see you on the playa!
