control gear for a slingshot fuel 06

hiya all i was wondering what would be the best set up to get my ss fuel flying again,i had the kite for peanuts so got it on a whim a few years ago.some of the valves have fallen off so they need sorting first but was thinking what would be best to get it up in the air again for land boarding.i know they were made for use on water but have seen loads on land so i thought id get some use out of mine
cheers :)

Hi Blade,

Compstick bar and lines / slingshot control bar. I prefer the Compstick. Try eBay. Buy good condition. No wear.
New £250!! Second-hand £100 maybe less.

However....seeing as you are asking then my advice is maybe to forget about repairing the 17m fuel. It will cost you way more than you paid for it unless you are in love with it or know how to replace the valves yourself.

Aftermarket valves from Airtime will cost £10 each and are easy to mess up and you only get one chance to do it right and sticking the old ones back on are a nightmare, you never get a complete seal. Believe me I've tried and tried.

There are more forgiving kites on the market these days. Flat style kitesurfing kites with bridles are better for inland riding. Do you want advice for these instead or are you determined to get the fuel flying ?

hiya thanks for info, gonna have a look at the chompstick as they are quite easy to get hold of.sadly im in no financial position to to buy any new kites as i now have a family to support and money is very sparse,at least im now getting more time again tho so time to dust down the quiver and board.as for the valves ive used valve traps on my old wipika kite which exploded after my mate over inflated it:(,out of 5 one leaked and as u said it was a total nightmare for leaks but did manage to sort it in the end until i lent the kite to my mate (bang).the fuel cost me £20 with no leaks or any repairs until the valves dropped of the leading edge bladder later on so mite stick with it untill i can improve our finances.the kites u recommend il keep in mind as i do like the big LEI kites, thanks again il stay intouch:)

Look for other older C kites going on Ebay with control bars. I got my Naish X3's (2003 kites) really cheap. one was with a bar.

You do have to be careful with this sort of kite. They are a total pain to relaunch and its very easy to get over powered but it doesn't mean you can't have a lot of fun with them. Best to take a mate with you to help launch and land and be extra cautious with wind speeds and gusty conditions.

I just like flying all kinds of kites so got them for curiosity but I do use the 14. Sessions usually last until I crash it and then I pull the safety and put one of my modern kites up because Its so hard to relaunch. fun though :D
