I'm planning on making skudding shoes out of some kind of shoe (maybe cheap skiing boots) with fibreglass on the bottoms made really smooth. Kinda like bottle boots except less cool. Anyone else tried making skudding stuff?

sounds good.. i use my Old red wings work boots.. The bottoms have been worn down so much, they are perfect and slick ..
