foil depower

I have a local who has played on water a bit, and has a 9m LEI not sure of brand she didn't bring out with her. She's taken a few lessons and is unsure if she wants to keep it for water and get a depower foil (pumping/ bladder replacement). She loved the easy of setup/pack of my foils (FB)She's looking for something RTF reasonably priced, winds here usually 10-16 (something 12-20ish mph) so not many days missed. inland but plenty access to good winds off Lake Ontario and Lake Erie. Locals all use LEI's they kiteboard and windsurf year round as well as snowkite.Yesterday had her out with handles 2.5m and 5m FB. 5m gave her plenty to handle. Of course I didn't ask her weight but if she's 130-140 dressed (winter gear and equiptment) that would prolly be all. if anyone has anything shoot me a message or suggestions would be great too.

Size desired is a good starting point.

hoping for a bit of direction there Erratic. I weigh 245 dressed out in winter. can't fathom what I'd need for 140lbs. prolly somewhere between 7.5-9. again need suggestions from someone more experienced with gear.

I would buy the apex3 7.5m http://www.powerkiteforum.com/viewthread.php?tid=27163.

Doesn't overlap with 9m she already has, gets a taste of foil-ease, and a trusted seller.

Once skills increase (mostly just being confident and comfortable with power!) I would look for an 11m....

Just the number on a wing can be intimidating, remind her that the 5m FB she flew is more of a handful than a 7.5m depower!

For years I watched my friends on 15-17m kites and thought those were just too big. Eventually my skill level increased and now my 15 is pretty much my go-to kite!

4m FB would have been better but 4m choices were a Bego or a Blade. Opted for something less aggressive. 2" of snow on ground she was skudding just fine. so 7.5m was what I was thinking. I was Playing arond with my 8.5m Blade and having as much fun as her. I will certainly let her know.

For us, I'd suggest a 9m Montana, but with 100 lbs less, a 7ish m kite would be better. The Montana is an easily managed kite too. My son Wexler wasn't more than 120 lbs when he went over 58 mph with the 7m in the buggy.
