Hey Guys,
I'm assembling custom buggy rims that I call PhatBoys.
I start with 8" wide PL BigFoot aluminum rims and 4" wide standard PL aluminum rims.
Aluminum rims are great but we found out that the bearings need to be in a much stronger material so Peter cut-out the center of the rim and built
stainless steel 3-spoke hubs that fit to the rim and bolt into place.
I take the 4" half a PL BigFoot aluminum rim and the 2" half of a standard PL aluminum rim and bolt them together with either a 12mm or 15mm stainless
steel 3-spoke hub.
This results is a 6" wide rim with one side a deep-dish.
Peter made the rims with no valve stem holes in the deep dish sides.
These are for the rear axle only.
It makes your stance 4" wider without buying a new axle.
All tires fit better and ride with more surface contact.
I've mounted 4.80/4.0x8 standard tires, 16/6.50x8 x-wide tires and the BigFoot 21/12x8 tires.
They all fit and all work better on the wider rim.
I can offer a set of two rims (15mm hubs) for $330
A standard 4" aluminum/steel front rim w/12mm hub is $140
The PhatBoys rims are the ones David Sabalino uses.
The same ones that he polishes until they glow.
Makes me faster.
