I've been playing around with my new quad copter and different cameras connected to the quad copter, with hopes of filming from a different, better
point of view.
I have been using the Blade 350 QX as my main filming platform. I then purchased the DJI Phantom. Yesterday I picked up the Blade 180 QX.
I have been having way to much fun and need to get some kite filming to justify the purchases.
The 350 QX and the Phantom need a camera, I use the Hero 3+. Which works well with the wifi remote.
the 180 QX has its own camera which films in 720p and is operated by the transmitter.
The Phantom is a lot easier than the Blades. But the Blades can out perform the Phantom by a mile.
I know dirtslide knows what Im talking about, anyone else know about these?

took it off safe mode and wanted to see how far up it would go. I wasnt able to see the low battery light come on. Once the battery goes dead, its
dead.

While I'd love to have a DJI, that's a lot of money to lose at sea underwater at the beach, and which is why I like my $35 Syma X1 and a $15 keyfob
cam when it get stuck up in a tree like mine did for 2 months.
thank you wind storm for bringing it back down, but no big deal if I lose $50,
too fun to not have, I've gone through about 5 of them thoroughly wringing their little necks flying very hard in flight, crashing repeatedly from
125-150 foot up, slamming into buildings and such.
buy several X1's at only $35 bucks, spare booms are only $1 (yes you'll break them, but not easily as this is a tough toy), and extra batteries only
a couple bucks each.
$800 lost in the surf at sea or in a tree for a Gen 1 DJI and a Gopro is a whole 'nother story.
my stuck in a tree short video, with great sound effects too:
I didnt fly it out over the big wet ocean, but I do have my fins and mask in the RV.
All the damage that was done when it fell from heaven was each arm broke on the top cover as it buried itself in the sand. 15 minutes and a small
tube of super glue and I was out flying again.
But you are right, 450.00 for the RTF quad and 300.00 for the camera is a bit much. Now the 180 QX is 130.00 and it comes with a camera, 170.00 if you
get it with the transmiter.
I have a nice transmiter so I get the stuff thats BNF, dont need extras.
As for the cameras, I have a bunch of them. 4 gopros, 2 contures, 1 addixion, 2 looxcies, and a half dozen of the key fob spy things, and a few others
I have forgotten about.
Taped my old HTC Evo 3D to the 350 QX the other day and filmed in 3D, been looking online for a 3D TV so I can watch the videos. Just might have to
gift wrap the new TV.

Been there done that
Get one of these from Hobbyking to measure that lipo voltage before you take off. Also if your transmitter has a timer, use it. Test the timer at 2ft
to be on the same side

So Jeff and others with a Phantom DJI, how aerobatic are they ? same with the Blade 350 or 180?
No Camera even has to be on-board, how much straight line speed runs under clothes lines, wing-over banking and nose dive swooping pull it out at the
last second panic climb can you do?

depends on how good you are. My bigest problem is the speed at which they can travel, even the beach isnt big enough to feel comphy with some moves.
did some flips and mach 10 through the trees at work last week and had to change my shorts. Thought it was over for a second or too,
The blade 350 is more acrobatic then the Phantom in my opinion. The 180 is not as acrobatic as the 350 but I think it is closest to the phantom.
