Ski bindings for snowkiting ... and down hill
.... Finally got my self twin tips and I am planning to go tomorrow find some bindings and install at the shop ....
Is there anything I should know ??? Do I snowkite with same settings as down hill riding ? Any specific type of bindings that are beneficial when
snowkiting ??
Basically ..... anything on the subject will help since I never ski before ....
Skis I got are K2 Sight if that makes any difference ,,,,,

Just go with whatever the ski shop recomends and be honest about your weight and ability. It is super easy to adjust the DIN setting on your own and
you can search google for proper charts for the settings.
There is nothing you need to know about specific types when going from downhill to kite skiing if you aren't considering telemark or touring.
You need to bring your boots with you when you pick out your bindings or they won't be able to mount the binding.

Conrad, If you haven't been on ski's before, I recommend taking a lesson first. If you want to take a trip to one of the local mountains one of
these days, let me know. It's better to be comfortable on them before add a kite to the mix (IMHO).

Serious second on aronma's comment.
Be careful just going with a shop's advice. There are a lot of junk ski shops out there and they won't hesitate to sell you what they want, not what
you need. Make sure it's a reputable shop and you're way ahead of the game.
Binding make and models are all very similar theses days and in fact many are mixed and matched and rebranded versions of each other. There are a
lot less binding makers these days but a lot more brands.
The Sight isn't particularly wide so you won't need extra wide brakes which is easy. I'm against and Marker System that utilizes the older toe design
and old forward pressure system. Been problematic for decades. Terrible, terrible retention if over cambering a ski which happens a fair amount if
riding aggressively. The style that comes on the Duke works great however.
Personally I'm a fan of Salomon or Rossi. Simple, solid and consistent. Rarely prerelease, allow good ski flex.

I did try to use old pair of strait skis with kite last year... but I set up kite that I normally would use with snowboard and that was way too much
... so after half hour I give up .... Now we are going for a week to Poconos PA to ride local hills .... If I find some wind and open space I am
sure I will do some kiting , but when on hill I will try bunny hill with skis and I am sure my friends or my brother will give me all pointer that I
need .... otherwise I will tai a lesson to get started ... and probably most of time I be riding my snowboard anyhow ... lol ...
.... Thanks for info .... I was looking at Marker system ... but I will stay away from it after friendly suggestion above .... thanks ...

Yeah amazing how much more power a board can use to go vs. skis.
If you can edge a board you can totally learn to edge a ski. I hope you get some footage of the learning and burning process. :D

Conrad,
If you're still looking for bindings consider Alpine Touring (AT) bindings like the Marker Baron Marker Duke or Fritschi FreeRide Pro.
You get all the power and releasibility of regular downhill bindings but if you're really far from the starting point and the wind dies you can free
up your heels which makes slogging back much easier.
Here's a great place to buy them:

I love Nahant but rarely get there anymore.
