First snow = first snowkiting session

.... I am so happy this winter started early with enough snow to have a session before Christmas here in NJ ....
... I was waiting most of day at home for storm to cover local field with some white goodness so I can do my thing ....
... Around 2pm I decided to go for it ... I have so much fun I end up finishing my session in dark after 7pm ...
.. BIg mistake was not wearing my Demon protective shorts .... I have black and blue all over my a$$ and legs from landing on snow covered ice ... It hurts .... Skiers surely don't have that problem ... lol ...
... Its good to be on snow again ... this time I did whole day on my Gin Sherpa 10m ....
... In middle of session I have small incident that I want to share with you ..... Below is my post from my FB page that some of you have seen for sure ,,,

"I decorate this tree with Gin kite ...... how you like it ???
Finally after 6 weeks I score a session ...... first one on snow this year ..... 6h in snow storm ..... 10m Gin Sherpa did good .... few hours underpowered and then way overpowered after got dark ..... In middle of session I got small incident .... There was this tree that did not see me coming and crash into my kite ..... Since lines wrap around it I was ready to cut some bridles, because there was no chance I can find a ladder on this field ..... There was no one around for last 3h .... so I did not expect hear voice behind me .... " Hi .... I am a kiter too ....." lol .... Guy was driving by and when realize that I got problem he stop and walk thru whole field to help me ...... Thank you Matt ..... We end up cutting only one bridle line .... and I was able to untangle all lines and kite another 2 hours ....
.... Kiters are awesome people .... and yes .... I am a kiter too !!!...."

Its good to know that kiters are so helpfull .... I hope all of you would do the same ...

That is great that another kiter driving by stopped and helped you out.
It's hard to even find someone driving by to pull someone out of a ditch these days (which I will always try to do if I see someone stuck). The fact that we are still a niche sport really helps build a sense of community, it seems.

Looks like not too much snow, no wonder your butt was sore! I went out on a day like that at the start of winter, but it was worth it, bruises heal

You had to cut a bridal line? Not to get it out of that little tree?

When I was done there was 3" ..... probably little more then 1" when I started .... and it was definitely worth it .....
.... Good thing is that is snowing right now .... and wind looks good tomorrow .... so maybe another session will happen ....

.... I did cut one bridle line and that was nothing comparing to what I was planning to do before guy show up ....
... I was in public park where I never have seen any kites or other crazy people like me ..... I was visible from far with that orange kite on tree and I hope none of park rangers did notice me .... I want to remove kite as quickly as possible without damaging tree ..... I know what would happen if authorities show up .... I probably get banned and ticket .... so I rather risk damaging my kite then risk loosing this spot that is only one in area large enough to snowkite ...

Hate it when that happens...trees should always be looking out for kites!
