GoPro buggy axle mounts?

I know. A dead horse here. But I'm late getting into the GoPro scene.

Would love to see some pics of your homebrew axle mounts. Got the downtube and helmet covered.

riff and WELDNGOD, saw yours only once and can't remember the details......

Thanks in advance ;)

John Holgate has a cool one he uses in a lot of his vids. It's a couple of pieces of PVC and a 45deg elbow... I think he has a YouTube vid on the specs of the mount... His YouTube channel is called "quedecree"

Lemme see if I can find it...

http://youtu.be/kbJHRLURyH0

Well that's not the one I was thinking of, but it gives you the idea. What I like about his mount is that you can see buggy, kite, & pilot all in the shot.

Thanks Soliver. I always love his footage. Buggy, pilot, and kite in the same frame. Quite the feat having such a long mount with minimal vibration in bumpy pasture videos. John, would you mind a few pics of your current axle mount?

Wow, that is really nice. I always like seeing the kite in videos, that's why I was going to go with a helmet mount. I might have to build something similar to John's rig for another point of view.

That vid is from "09". I think he runs a different style mount now. His newest vids have almost zero vibration.

Sorry it took so long. Had to go by storage to pick up the mounts..
Here's what I use for both The square Buggy Axle and the Round axle onthe buggy I got from you..

GoProBuggyMounts.jpg - 139kB

The Square mount is an old desk clamp with an aluminum up tube.

The Round mount is a Cymbal mount for a drum rack with the removable part of a camera tripod in place of the cymbal upright..

Hi guys, the latest version of the mount is actually pretty good - the only vibration is what comes through the buggy. I've got it rigged for the 1/4 tripod adapter, but you could easy screw a gopro mounting plate to it. The idea is (which is what I'll do in two weeks at Kingston) is to run two cameras on it at various angles. I'll have an Ion Air Pro 2 on it as well which I'll be keen to test. I've just shoved a bit of dowel into the ends of the PVC pipe cut at the appropriate angle to give me a flat surface to work on. There's also a PVC pipe strapped to the buggy side rail which works really well for putting the gopro pole in.

I should have some posts from a long while back... I used a manfrotto super clamp (27$ - useful for all sort of things) with a flex arm ($20) which allows you to put the camera at a number of angles. You can also just make a bar rather than springing for the flex arm.

Riff. I only saw yours mounted that one day at the beach. Did you have that square aluminum extension in that day? From memory that little bit we watched at the Dog House looked pretty smooth.

John. I know your latest vids seem smooth as glass. Probably from dual supports and the masts being shorter?

Thanks too arkay.

I see Gopro has a jaw clamp with a flexible shaft. I can just see that getting knocked out of sight picture really easily with all those joint segments. Prolly just mix something between riff's and John's ideas. Rigidity of John's, but with speed nuts like Riff's for easy and quick left to right side placement. Hmmmmm..

I like the new mount John... I may have to make one like that.

I've got my GoPro all sorted, except that I ordered new sticky mounts for myself for Christmas and they were lost

I think so. You can see from the hand held shots that the beach is pretty bumpy. It's easy to reach around and either start or stop the camera or swivel it a bit (if it's not too tight). Looking at some of the unedited footage, I can see the bag on the back bouncing around but the footage is quite good - any bumps dampen out immediately.

edit: I should mention too, that by using the 1/4 mount adapter, you can quickly adjust to any angle or direction.

I tried mounting my image stabiizer on the same mount but the footage was all over the place - really horrible!

I did not have the extension at that time. Just the go pro stuff.

Let's get together soon. I probably have some parts and EXTRA stuff that could save you some cash that I'm sure you'd rather spend on something else.

Man... He sure does have a sweet set up on that mount,... But his camera menu settings must be off somehow, cuz it looks like he's riding on the wrong side of the street

Picked this up a Wally today. Perfect fit for the rear VTT axle. Plenty range of motion plus it is rubber lined on the inside of the main clamp. Should do real good for the Gopro Black 3+. It's super wide mode is incredible.
