New to the forum and kiteboarding. I have been flying 2 line kites my whole life.

I recently purchased a 2012 Nirvana and a 2013 CPR Control bar. When the control bar showed up it ended up being a 4 line bar. I was able to get my hands on a 2012 5th line that came off of a 5 line bar that was flying a 4 line kite. I was able to disconnect the 5th line from the left power line and attach it to the new 5th line. The problem that i am running into is the safety line is a bungee. I flew it today and i do not believe that i am getting enough tension on my 5th line. Also if i adjust the depower of the kite the 5th line does not adjust with it, is this the way the kite should operate?
