World Cup Land Sailing event Smith Creek/Class 8 discussion

Hello everyone,
This is the latest on the progress of Class 8 Racing at Smith Creek during the Worlds Land Sailing Championship. This is directly from one of the organizers of the event.

We need to invite Class 8 (kite buggy) to attend. it needs to go something like this; We are announcing the intent to include class 8 at the world championships. We need all interested pilots to sign the "Intent to participate" form on the website.(CLICK HERE) If there is sufficient interest by the class by March 14th Class 8 will be invited to participate at Smith Creek. sufficient interest would be a total of 16 pilots from 5 countries and 2 continents. This needs to be posted on the site and released to whoever we release these kinda things to. Alan Watson is not sure how many if any will sigh up at this late date.

We will also need an officiating crew and Race Coordinator from NAPKA to help run the races.

Please let me know if you are interested or not. The event will be in July Check previous post about the dates.

I am awaiting correspondence regarding to the participation levels. Pass this along to anyone that may be interested. I have been trying to stay in the loop, but the conversation is very minimal on their end at this point.

I was interested in this when I heard about it awhile back. That was till I saw it is in July in the desert. That just sounded like more of a challenge to survive the day than any kind of fun. I am unclear as to why they would do it there that time of year ???

Doesn't your taco stand sell, soda and water? My corner store does. Lol.

What's the closest hotel? I do NOT live in the nature/outdoors/camping well, if at all.

I don't get why only 16 pilots???

World cup Class 8 in Europe has over 100 pilots.

There has been no contact from them. No info that I have asked for, guess no class 8. They were supposed to make a decision by March 2nd.

Some were definitely looking forward to it, I really wish they had continued the contact, I have reached out several times with no return emails.

Maybe next year
