in need of buggy for first timer help
Hey all.. just got into power kiteing and I really like it. I bought a new rage 3.5 and have been flying it almost every day. Im really wanting a
buggy tho. After checking the pricesI found that a buggy iisn't cheap. I have 300 to spend now if anyone could help me out that would be greatly
appreciated. I live in St Louis so I'm sure no one is that closeI'm willing to take a few hour drive

I'm not sure if a 5 hour drive is too much; but there is a group of buggy riders in Tulsa. You could link up with them on a windy weekend sometime: https://www.facebook.com/TulsaWindRiders
There are around 10 of us in OKC who buggy. If it's windy and you want to ride during the week(or weekend); let me know.

In the mean time; it would be good if you practiced moving with the kite while you are flying it static. If the wind is blowing from the south; walk
to the east with the kite pointing in that direction and at the edge of the window; walk a ways and then take it up to 12 and then down to 3 as you
make a down wind u-turn and start going west. If you can walk and fly; you should be able to buggy and fly.
Also if you can walk in any direction anywhere on your field with the kite in the air; that helps too being able to deal with it and keep it in the
air; especially when going downwind and dealing with potential slack in the lines.
Preferably do all that in light, safe wind and not real strong wind conditions especially if you are not totally comfortable flying in higher winds.

It would be interesting to see a state by state count of active current buggy riders. My guess from the forum activity and the turnout at the big
events is there are around 50 riders in the entire 48 states. I'm sure some states have 0 either due to no wind or no place to ride. It's easier to
find a body of water then it is to find a field good enough and big enough to ride on.

They are out there and your budget for a decent 1st buggy is more then reasonable...I would suggest a flexifoil 1st choice or a Peter lynn 2nd
choice...You will be able to upgrade a bit if you want and take it apart for easier travel. There was a flexifoil on Ebay that keeps popping up from
time to time....be patient as spring is here and you will find one...Put up one more ad here on the forum under the wanted section....I'll keep an
eye/ear out too.
1.8 Flexifoil Rage
2.5 Flexifoil Rage (new version)
3.5 Flexifoil Rage
4.7 Flexifoil Rage
2.0 Flexifoil Blade II
4.0 Flexifoil Blade II
6.6 Flexifoil Blade III

It might be a good idea for you to check out the buggies at WBB before you rush into something. Not all buggies are created the same. You will see
many different buggies and you might realize that you do not like certain buggies and like others. This way you dont waste your money on the first
cheap buggy that comes along and you end up not liking it.

I have a nephew who always borrows my buggy; if casardo is not interested, my nephew might be, I know I'll be happier too.
