Why did you pick YOUR pilot #?

So I'm a new to NAPKA, and having seen other's pilot numbers, I always assumed that they were automatically assigned to you based on where you fell in line or where you were located etc.

Having just joined, I learned that as a part of joining was Choosing your numbers... I am one of those people who has trouble choosing things, feeling like it has to mean something at least interesting.

That being said, is there any significance to you to the numbers you picked?

For me, I chose US 593... A lot of the numbers that are ones of significance to me were already used, so I took a nickname that my wife (and inlaws) calls me and one I've been called since college, "Spe" (pronounced "Spee") and chose numbers close to the letters: 5=S, 9=P, and 3=E... Kinda silly, but the nickname is one I've always enjoyed so I thought it made sense.

How about you, are your pilot numbers significant?

Spe

I just decided that 8's were the easiest number to read. After choosing it, it seems that 8's are popular numbers. No hidden meaning.

No, I've just been wondering if anyone else had any significant meaning to theirs or thought about it too much like I did... I've been thinking about it on and off since I joined, & mostly just curious... Typed that up this morning over my bowl of Cheerios watching the girls chow down on theirs.

Maybe I just think too much :puzzled:

Headed out for a light wind session in about 1/2 an hour... My last hurrah before girl # 4 shows.... Due date 3/31.... Essentially any day now... May likely be JIBE before I'm back in the buggy.

They have yet to express any real interest in kites that don't look like Disney princesses... Maybe I should commission Kieron to make a a Beamer that looks like Rapunzel.

The reason I have my Number ( KC22) is in memory of the owner of Harley Davidson Canada (Trev Deeley 1920-2002) and of the Harley dealership I work for.
He was an accomplished AMA racer back in the 40’s and 50’s and raced with the number 22

There didn't seem to be many Canadians registered and 67* was the most "Canadian" number I could think of.
Everything else (birthdays, anniversary, etc.) just didn't appeal to my sense of kiting (which gets me away from all that other stuff:-).

* 67 applies to both Confederation and beer. How could it be bad?

Go ahead... tell me to "go fly a kite!" Please!

I had to get to know this side of Ken to understand what TDMC meant. It is for Trev Deeley Motor Cycles.

K3 is one heck of a dedicated employee but then again he works for one fine shop !

I chose 96 so it would be the same even when you find me upside down. Guess I'm not the only one thinking that way.

When I was picking my number, for some dumb reason I thought it had to be 2 digits. Duh. All the numbers I could think to use were taken, so I settled for my birthday, September 1st. If I had known I could pick a 3 digit number, I would have picked something altogether different.

I know what you're thinking Spencer. Has to mean something...or does it?

Do we all just over think issues like this? After all it's just a number we'll have as long as we buggy. Is this a big deal?

How much time did and do we as a collective waste over thinking of a number for our buggys?
100 hours? 500hours? 1000 ?

I believe that Rich & Morrie made us pick so they did'nt have a hassle with assigned numbers that maybe members didn't want.

It's all their fault, they shifted the burden to all of us so they didn't have to deal with primadonna buggy pilots.
Damn them!!!:D:D:D

Well, I didn't fall for their ploy. Birth year. US47. Fast, simple and not a lot of mind time thinking about it.
