hitch buggy rack project.....

Trying to design my hitch mounted buggy rack and I am looking for pipe clamp that will grab my rear axle ...
Found few products that may work , but maybe you can give me more ideas ....

1.
http://www.kchilites.com/accessories/light-mounts/light-moun...

Made of nylon/plastic mix .... wondering if that will not break holding 120lbs buggy with only one hole attachment point

2.
http://www.amazon.com/Tee-Saddle-Tap-In-PVC/dp/B0078RYC66/re...

This looks stronger and would make easier to construct rear axle holder with few iron pipes and fittings

3.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/231002683037?_trksid=p2055119.m1438....

another option with nice finish ....

Few more:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/200973528090?_trksid=p2055119.m1438....

http://www.ebay.com/itm/221377432073?_trksid=p2055119.m1438....

Also looking for another clamp to hold square down tube 60mmx60mm

Planning to use my bike rack as a base ..... adding bolted 2" tubular steel bar in bottom section to hold axle and adding another one on top to grab down tube ....

http://www.amazon.com/Heininger-2200-Advantage-SportsRack-gl...

Any ideas and advice would be very helpful ...

Those look a lot like the drum hardware clamps I use for my drum stands and also for a gopro mount.

musiciansfriend.com carroes them. They are 1.5" though

How about a rubber covered support surface + SS U-Bolt + 2 wing nuts?

http://www.mcmaster.com/#u-bolts/=rer95o

If you are worried about vibration rash on your axle then
you could cover a larger U bolt with a section of rubber tubing or
the same page lists a vibration damped version

Not everyone has a car big enough to put the bug inside,:P
to be more specific these are bolted to a cross bar that is welded to the 2" bar coming out of the receiver.

http://globaltruss.com/ProductDetails.aspx?ItemNumber=229&am...

You can lay a thin layer of rubber on the inside to protect the axle. These will hold an axle 1 1/2" to 2 3/4" in diameter.

Above clamps will not fit my axle since they are pre shaped for 2" tube and will not close as required .... but I change design of my mount and use those for holding said rails .....

I went a different route. I didn't want my buggy axle to be the weak link if a wheel touched down. I use bow stops intended for a boat trailer to cradle my axles, and then use straps to hold the axle in place. If the tire touches the ground with force, the strap breaks on one side and the pressure is relieved. I use the straps that come with kites for this purpose. I touched a wheel once and the system worked as planned. It was worth the 2 minutes to resecure my buggy after it happened to not ruin a wheel or bend an axle on the buggy.

This is similar to what I used.

After first trip with new hitch at 70mph I have no complains ... Worked perfectly ... I do need to take side plates off the buggy to get it mounted and reduce air drug ... also roof cargo box was helping too .... I got only 3mpg lost in fuel economy compering to 33mpg when without buggy ... Touching with wheels will not happen since my hitch is about 4" lower then wheels .... I will keep close eye on hitch attachment to see if it starts bending over time from all that weight , but hoping that it will stay the way it is ...
... The only thing that I need to watch out for its high curbs on driveways and speed bumps ... just like on my extended Dodge Sprinter ..... sometimes I need to drag my tail slowly thru those obstacles ....
