Why i love to buggy
Have so been missing Galveston, really down in the dumps, couldn't get a cheap enough flight, to much going on, yah yah yah. Didn't even know how
much it meant to me.
Today, i went to Ocean Beach, just west of San Francisco, met Slawek and Elton Thanh there.
Wind onshore about 12-16, couldn't tell, maybe more, but butter. Beach wide and firm. Lot of people. Temp was in the mid 50's. Quite a few kite
surfers out.
I flew a 9 phantom in a NABX Race Buggy.
Slawek was all over the sky. Elton going fast, sliding, grinning, two wheeling. People staring, gawking. My burner friends flying single lines,
attracting a small crowd, sun going down, far off clouds, wind like love.
We fooled around up and down then rallied for the long haul up the beach. Wind was just slightly out of the north, nice high rock cliff rising out of
the surf at the north end, kite surfers putting their kites up, dogs chasing us.
Drop the hammer for what must have been over a six mile ride! Holy good lord a mercy, now i remember. Aoxomoxoa crept back into my soul, wheels
spinning, sliding now and then, catch up only for those two to crank it up more, every now and then Slawek would get crazy. Wind is in my face now
i'm going so fast, i've gotten ahead of the apparent and have the kite locked solid in the power zone, working the bar, just going with it. Ah, life
is good! No thoughts about anything, just that slightly crooked grin. Sand in my face doesn't even bother me, i just squint and avoid the deeper
parts, who needs goggles? The perfect run. It was . . . just . . . perfect. Thank you Buggy Gods!
Wish i could be in Galveston, but damn proud to be able to buggy with these city boys up here in the city by the bay.
I remember now.....
