WBB reflection spring 2014

As I sit here waiting to catch the boat ride home, I realize what is the hardest part of the bash, that is leaving my WWB family. I always look forward to seeing all of the usual faces and also meeting the new, but the hardest thing for me is not getting the event organized or dealing with the local government agencies getting the permits. The hardest part is saying goodbye. I have come to know so many of you very well and call you brothers and sisters. We talk throughout the year and see each other at the bashes, but I really wish we were all a little closer to each other to ride together much more often. As we return to our "normal" lives know that I will be remembering the great times we have had this week and how much I will miss that till October! Only 6months to go, I have to see how many days that is and get a count down going. Until then my friends farewell and safe buggying till we ride again. Thank you all for being such a great group to be around!

WildwoodStock is over...

Served up was lots of wind, sunshine, socializing, and side diversions of fun.

How many wheels should a buggy have...or how much buggy should a wheel have for good power kite riding?

Lots of horseshoe crabs...and one Crab Buggy..

Oh...the wind was okay if you like it strong:rolleyes:

What else can I say but WAHOO....I know that some of you didn't hear me scream, but believe me...I did and I also went home with a huge smile on my face too....
Day 1
Up for 20 hrs....checked in at 230 am ...slept 4.5...Rode 48 miles with a top speed of 31 mph...Fell asleep on the couch at 7 and woke up at 12:45am ...Hey, Where is everyone? LOL
Day 2
Rode 33 miles with a top speed of 34 mph...BBQ...then jumped in my car for a 7 hr car ride ( I might re-think this move for next bash). However, it did give me time to do the laundry and unpack. I also got to spend a little time with the family before the Monday grind.
Thanks to Rich and everyone who played a part in making this once again a wonderful event...I can't wait till the fall bash and participate in our ride for Cancer.

happy faces - says it all. Thanks for for posting photos, video and reviews
Did anyone else have a go on Georges crab buggy? I found it really takes a different thinking to get the steering worked out in your head and you could end up in situations feeling similar to going backwards in a regular buggy and over steering. I had to keep thinking of it more like having my feet on a surfboard and edging the board to get the steering worked out in my head when I rode it in Québec. It takes a while to get the natural instinct but it's great to ride a different set up and Georges is a lot of fun and always very helpful too.

Crab buggy... and more

I should have tried crab buggy, but I don't know if I'd like it. I like looking straight ahead, the way my front wheel and me and the buggy are heading..........forget the kite... I turn and I look at kite when I have to.

Also....I did try the Solo Electric wheel(without kite!), but needed more time to get the hang of it. Folks like Patrick, Brandon and Josh were almost instantaneous in learning it, with Rich not that far behind and- all did well. Next would be to see them try it with a kite on beach like Terry!

Also in the trying vain of thought...... Thanks to Brandon for letting me try his 8.5 Blade-jumping in STEADY low onshore breeze. Liked it!!

The most exciting 20 seconds of my Wildwood weekend

A full, nicely edited video of my wildwood rides will be coming in the next couple of weeks- but in the spirit of quick short vids from the weekend, I present to you the most exciting 20 seconds I've ever had on a buggy.

This is a clip from a very well powered (read: white knuckle) run on Sunday late morning. You might need to watch it a few times to see how much of this video I am actually sliding towards the ocean :lol:

I did the off shore wind ride while at WW last year. With the dead wind spots behind the large motel/buildings, the telephone poles sticking out of the sand holding up the sewer/runoff pipes running out to the ocean, the horse shoe crabs, and the few stories I heard about the non floating buggies, I did buggy but did it underpowered.
We NEVER buggy in off shore winds on the West Coast, have you ever tried to pull a 12m sea anchor out of the ocean while trying not to let go of your bug?
Even with 300 yards of beach between me and the ocean, watching your vid makes me real uneasy:o
glad you enjoyed the event.

Wildwood was a great event as usual. I thoroughly enjoyed myself and am already looking forward the next one in October. I need to thank Rich and crew for all their effort in putting on the bash as well as all who attended. The people were the best part of the event, thanks for hanging with me.

This bash was more intimate and had a smaller turnout that usual, but that did not take away from the good times. By nature I am a very laid back and relaxed, but after this bash I am still feeling exceptionally mellow.

For me the highs of this bash were the people, trying Konrad's MG buggy, briefly trying the crab buggy, and the buggying on Sunday. Sunday is a travel day for most and not many make it to the beach to fly, you guys missed out on a good day. The winds were NW (off shore) which can be quite challenging at Wildwood, but they were surprisingly manageable to fly in. I flew a race kite all day, felt in control and even did an end to end run. The lows were the many friends that I missed seeing, hope that they will make it in the fall.

All in all a special time and see you in the fall.

is it just the fork and rear axle that are different on a bigfoot? or are the side rails and downtube different as well?

The fork is bigger, the down tube is usually kinked, the side rails are longer on the Kenda race PL bigfoot, as well as the axle is wider. basically the seat is the same.
