So do the rest of you all have a nickname for the depower kite club, like "the dark side" or something...?
After finally graduating from college, I decided to celebrate by getting myself my first depower kite: the 2014 Ozone Access 10M. And out here in
these gusty inland parks, it works much better than my previous fixed-bridle 5-meter Ozone Octane.
I can depower this thing to about a 3.5-meter fixed-bridle power spec when the wind really picks up, and then quicky power it up to about as much
power as a 6-meter fixed-bridle kite in low winds. With that in mind, I can actually stay on my board without getting yanked off of it from a
sudden gust. Compared to my Octane, the Access goes upwind just as well despite the lower aspect ratio, and has better low end to top it off. The only
thing I'll have to get used to now is the much lower turning radius.
I just put it through my second major kiting session so far, and am already very impressed with it. More details may come later.
Congrats! I love depowers, I even use them in the buggy. That's a great size access to have! If you had to have only one depower, that would be the
size to have My Frenzy has the same color way. Almost too much white
in my opinion, shows dirt really easy. You should get a lot of use from that kite. Have fun out there!
