OBE this Sunday

I was on my local beach, riding in 5-7 mph of wind with gusts up to 10mph. I was being pulled by the 8m Toxic "Black Betty" and she was doing a great job in the light stuff, even letting me park and ride at times. I was having to work it pretty hard at times to keep moving, and I had it in an awkward spot when a gust hit and I lost a lot of ground more quickly than I expected. After watching the video back again, I should have just made an upturn instead of trying for the downturn. You will see what I mean...

Other than you being cold and wet, I always have used the phrase "fly it dry". Would it not reverse launch? While watching I was thinking "hard on the brakes and back up". It might've been too late and just scooping water. Where is that gust when you need it?

Yeah Bob, I pulled hard on the brakes but it was logged. I did try to fly it dry after the video cuts, but it just had too much sand and water in/on it to get more than a foot off the ground. I packed up and hung it up in a friend's garage to dry. It will still be crispy and look good as new for JIBE :) I think the fact that I had to walk home was what saved me from hypothermia honestly.

I look at my videos all the time and think, "oh man, why didn't I just keep that going into a loop..." Watching your video, I was like, "oh man, I don't think you have room to sine that kite one more <SPLASH>... :)"

Awesome video, btw. Shared with friends. Thanks!

Yeah Proletariat, exactly my thoughts when I watched it. I went for the extra sine instead of just turning it into an upturn. The wind lulled right when the kite was at the top of the sine, so I was trying to downloop it to keep the lines charged so I didn't drop it in the lake, but obviously that ended up happening anyway. I have shown my coworkers and now every time they pass me in the office they do their impression of me, "F***-splashgurglegurgle"
