Saw an interesting wheel the other day

With a familiar bearing mounted and the way it's in there. Not so common or typical for bicycles? I'm sure it's 10mm(3/8") though. The other common size is 14mm(9/16").

I wonder if this wheel would catastrophically fail though under typical buggy side loads? Or maybe it could handle them?

Bike wheels just don't have to design for side loads. Those look cool but much side load and they are going to fail badly. Just cruising would be ok but you start torquing those webbed spokes sideways and limits will be found.

You'd probably be better off going higher end.

He's hasn't been around in quite a while, but Darren (c3h5) used motorcyle wheels.

With really slick camber adjusters on the rear wheels.
