New to Kiteboarding

Hey,
Im new to kiteboarding and need sum help choosing a kite and board. Im looking to spend 400-500 on both the board and kite. I want to be able to jump pretty high, i weigh 170 and will be growing more as I am in 10th grade. plz advise me on a good but not horribly expensive kite that will give me some thrills but is not too complicated to pilot.

Well, E-bay or forums you should be able to source a decent board for under $200 if your patient and willing to do some digging. That only leaves $200-300 for a kite. So you'll either be looking for something used, possibly 2 kites. Or you're going to be going with something along the lines of the Beamer, Buster II, or Radsail. I haven't priced out the others but I know that a new 5m Buster II should be around $300

Here's the problem though, no one learns to fly on a kite big enough to get air with, it almost always ends poorly. You're really going to need something in the 3m range to learn, then it'll be your high wind kite, then move on to something in the 5-6m range to go with it for bigger airs.

Sysmic S1 Buggy.

0.7m / 1.4m / 2.0m PKD Buster I
4.4m PKD Buster
10m JoJo RM+

6m Flysurfer Outlaw
12m Ozone Access

I agree with Pablo. Your young and that's a great time to learn, but if you want to see the 11th grade and continue on with the sport, get something reasonable, with moderate lift and learn to fly the kite first.

Anyone can get air with a big kite in big wind but unless you know how to control the kite and work it, the landing is going to be awful and you risk severely injuring yourself or others around you.

i wouldn't recommend you enter the sport with an E-Bay buy as you can't guarantee what you're getting and if its screwed up, you won't be able to tell until its too late. Get a buster II or Radsail and hone your skills and have lots of fun then use that kite as your higher wind kite and get something more aggressive later if this is something you want to do.

The kite you describe in your post will easily eat all of your funds leaving you boardless and only able to fly in very limited conditions.
