I have 3 kites, a blade 3 that I have only used once not sure of the size as I have not touched it or used it since it scared the life out of me on the town moor a good while ago, plus bullets 2.5 and a 5.5 that I have used more.
The thing is I tried to get into kites when I was younger and had little cash to spend then time and work became an issue and I found it difficult to get out and about but now I have a bit more money and time to spend and I am am looking for some advice on how to get going again?

The great part is, it sounds like you've got some great kites already! Bullets and Blades are well praised around here!

Blade stays in the bag back of the closet till your really feeling it...go to coastalwindsports website read everything twice tonight...2le utube launch/land vids after that..than a few damn look what happens when things go bad vids..pray for 10-15mph winds and break out that 2.5... 5.5 next week if the winds go lite..welcome back
can you buggy on a moor?

Abkayak I live in Northumberland a place near blyth in England that's on the eat coast spitting distance from Scotland.
We have some good beaches but very thin unless there is a good tide out but all are very popular with dog walkers as it's all very untouched of outstanding natural beauty here.
I used to see some kites up about 10 years ago when I purchased them but not so many now, the guy I got them off had a place/shop in amble he was called Nigel king an ex RAF helicopter pilot and worked hard to get kites accepted in the area, like I say these places are like a film set everyone wants a piece to do what ever it may be eg horses,dogs,tourists,so at times there is not much room and people were getting hit or paranoid or just didn't like them even with my small kite.
I had insurance at one point from what this guy Nigel had set up some good advice but the tuition you had to pay for and I had very little funds at the time but this guy seems to have disappeared? There is still web pages for him, northern freestyle but he looks like he is gone?
Anyway I prefer grass and there are some good sports fields dotted about not very big mostly 1 to 3 soccer pitch size, the moor would be perfect but it is very bumpy from cattle.
I know what your saying as to putting the blade away as it lifted me about a foot off the ground and that was enough for me, I got scared then again I got scared in Tenerife on holiday when my bullet 5.5 superman me 30 foot down the beach and I landed on my elbows.
So I have got respect and my heart does increase when I get those blue and red handles in my hands.

Yeah maybe venture further afield once I get a bit more practice with the kites .
Redcar is 50 odd miles away just checked it out on google earth and it looks the ticket.
I need to practice manoeuvring the kite and know how to get myself out of trouble again, it's a shame because I had put a lot if hours in years ago and was able to take the 5.5 out in some pretty strong winds and play a little bit and land it safely but not much fun as in light winds tho.
I had the 2.5 bullet out the other day first time in years, I was holding the handles before the first launch and my mind went blank, it soon came back and had a good work out for a good 20 mins and quit while I was ahead , the wind was maxing out at 15 mph and 8mph on the ground according to my wind meter but it was too gusty lifting me up a couple of times when in parked position, I kept it in the areas in the window that I knew I could handle but still I forgot how much power these things have.
I am thinking of getting a sting power kite of some size and also a buggy probably second hand to see if I take to it to begin with.
