3 line to 4 line conversion

Hi,
Im pretty new so i shall introduce my self. I'm Thomas from the Netherlands , 26 years old and weight around the 75 kg. I've been kiting since I was a little fella first with simple trick kites and later on some nice pulling speed wings got some of those laying around and a revolution. Witch I love but since a year of 2 I got hooked on the wonderful thing called the foil kite. For the time being I got a PL impulse TR 3m and an Ozone Method 5m in the quiver.

And now on the the question. As you know the PL impulse is a 3 line kite and I was wondering if is it possible to convert to a 4 line. I never liked the bar controls so I would love to fly it on handles. Or is it way to difficult to do so and should I just buy a new 3 m for in the harder blowing winds and if so any suggestions? Love to get dragged around and have no intention in jumping(yet)

Sorry for the long story and the rubbish English

Kind regards

Thomas

Hiya Thomas..welcome! any 26 yr old needs more than 2 kites...that said you can separate the back lines and use your handles and lines from the Method and not spend any $$$ just dial in the kite moving the brake lines ...but its still only a impulse w/ impulse performance..and we both know that you really want another 3m kite maybe even a nice new crispy one...so i say go buy one and save this to hand off to friends/newbs...but it's not my $$$

Welcome to the Family.

If I am hearing you right and the impulse is too much for the strong winds then buying a more advanced 3m power kite will actually feel like a stronger kite.

Haven't looked at the impulse but agree with abkayak. You should just have to seperate the right and left bridles that your 3rd line is on and adjust a bit to make it work. You may have to add some pig tails to the new brake lines to equal things up + create an attachment point? Pig tales are what you attach the lines to . Like on the Method.

Just looked at the manual. It is not as simple as I thought. I would try doing it without incorperating the center part of the bridle 1st. If that doesn't work well I would try to include the left and right part of the center bridle and not use the actual center one. That or put it back together if leaving the center bridle lines out doesn't work so you don't get in too deep?

Converting a kite to four line is not hard but there is possibly a little sewing involved.. Click on the Symphony 2.2.4 in my signature for instructions on converting foils to 4 line..

Or here's a quick link
http://www.riffclown.com/kites/HQ2.2.4Conversion.pdf

My instructions are kite specific but the principles need are there and it's not difficult to do..You'll just need to play with the lengths a bit to get the right control and balance.

HQ Symphony 2.2.4!
Skydog SDT 2.8
HQ Crossfire II 2.0, 3.0 & 4.0
HQ Toxic 8.0
Flexifoil Blurr 3.5
Flexifoil Blade 8.5
PL Hornet 2.0

Before you ask, What kite Should I buy?
